I was worried about putting my daughter in a public school, in California, in a big city. Now that she's been a student there for two years, I couldn't be more thrilled. While every school has some great teachers and some mediocre ones, hers all seem to be at least competent, with some being wonderful. The atmosphere is safe. The building was beautifully renovated. The after school care is educational, structured and free -- you couldn't ask for more. The communication with parents, thanks to SchoolLoop, a mailing list and online cafeteria management, is awesome, almost to the too-much-information point. She's learning. She has good friends. She loves her school. All in all, better than I thought education could still be in the era of budget cuts.
