Myself, my spouse, and our tween daughter stayed here for 3 nights. The trip was semi-last minute, so we chose this hotel despite some of the negative reviews, based on location and price. On those two accounts we were not disappointed. For 3 nights (Wed., Thurs., and Fri.) we paid just over $100 a night.Room: We requested (and received) a second floor room. The room was close to the stairs and overlooked the pool. The room was small, but it was clean. The furniture was a little banged up, with nicks in the night stands, etc., but everything was clean and I did not mind walking around barefoot or allowing my daughter to do the same. The room had a desk/table but it was impossible to use the desk and walk through the room to get to the bathroom, again, small rooms. The towels were thin, the shower curtain was thin, and the soap/shampoo was very limited. The water pressure was great. Walls were definitely thin. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs and don't plan on staying on a really busy weekend.Amenities: We were told there was a continental breakfast available, but it ended at 9am and we were never all ready before 9am, so I cannot say how it was. The pool was very nice, clean, and not very crowded. In fact, on Friday we were the only people using it. There was no hot tub, sauna, or anything else, just the pool. There were very few lounge chairs, and the one I tried to use was broken, so I ended up spreading my towel on the cement surrounding the pool to sun bathe, which was fine with me. In the room was a mini fridge, a microwave, and a small coffee pot. The fridge came in very handy, we stored sodas and leftovers from dinners out. The coffee pot came with a limited coffee supply (no decaf) but I wasn't concerned enough to call down about it.Location: This is where the Torch Lite really shines. It is 3+/- blocks from the boardwalk in one direction and 3+/- blocks from downtown in the other direction. Both easily walkable by myself, husband, and kid.
