FACT VS. FICTION

Tuesday, May 19, 2009
It's a shame that a lot of people who decide to use this forum are mostly uninformed whiners who love to complain about what a terrible job everyone else is doing. It also seems these pet owners don't assume ANY responsibility when something does go wrong. I'm not trying to stick up for any particular pet store, but there are always 2 sides to every story. Most people don't have a clue about proper animal care and all the things that CAN AND DO happen, WITHOUT human negligence. All vets aren’t on the up and up either. They are a business too and will take advantage of people just like some mechanics do. They know you have limited knowledge. It’s easier for them to blame a store and scare you so they can rack up some fees. Private breeders, hobby breeders and backyard breeders are no better than anyone else. In fact, they are more likely to be less knowledgeable and less prepared than LICENSED breeders. Most breeders are not licensed. Even if they tout fancy registrations or champion dogs, it doesn't mean they are licensed, and I don't mean a kennel license. As for the purebred/mixed breed, mistakes will be made. If quality control isn’t optimal, things like that are going to happen. Meaning, absolute measures must be taken to ensure the breeding stock is in a controlled environment, and that this boy can’t “hop the fence” and mate with that girl when someone’s not looking. I doubt that those types of errors are intentional. Really, people need to have a clue before shooting their mouth off and thinking they are so much better or would be able to do any better. Nothing in life is perfect. There are pros and cons to everything. Breeders, licensed kennels, shelters, rescue facilities….they all have something to contend with; something some whiner will take issue with. Don’t like it? Don’t go there, don’t use it. Why can’t you just keep your negativity to yourself and get down off your high horse.
