Good food but not spectacular

Sunday, March 08, 2009
Very pricey, running $200 per head with some wine and the middle fixed priced menu of 7 courses. The food was heavy on presentation in very small portions so as not to fill you up. Indeed several members of our party of 6 were still not full at the end of the meal. As an example, the scrambled eggs course was an organic egg which had been prepared with butter, cream and returned into the shell after it had been cooked. It was topped with caviar and priced at $24. While tasty, I was disappointed. Our menu options were heavy into shellfish; if you didn't like those or pate, you lost about half the menu options. While it was clearly carefully prepared food, it wouldn't be a restaurant I'd recommend nor will we go again. Perhaps I have too much "value" in my evaluation and too little appreciation of the presentation.
