HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! 12/18/2009

If we could give ZERO STARS, we would. After Googling an auto glass company to fix a cracked windshield, we read the YELP reviews on SF City Glass, expecting to have a positive experience. Our experience was HORRIBLE. After inspecting the work that was done, we observed that there was a malfunctioning piece and the installation had been done incorrectly. SF City Glass had not sealed the new windshield properly to the existing part that it fits into. Upon informing them of the problem, SF City Glass put the blame back on US, stating that the part that was malfunctioning because of age and preexisting issues with the part. They flat out refused to take responsibility for the shoddy work, forcing us to take the car to the dealer. The dealer took one look at the windshield and installation and discovered that 1) the windshield had been mounted improperly and 2) the clamps that hold the glass down had been GLUED OVER, not allowing the part to fit to the glass and 3) gluing moldings that should not have been glued. Our quote was $425.00 and after having to take the car to the dealer, get an ENTIRELY NEW WINDSHIELD/new parts/moldings that were improperly installed and starting over, the job cost us $1,425 ($1,000 additional at the dealer to both repair, redo the bad work and replace the glass CORRECTLY)!!! Upon informing SF City Glass that we were going to dispute the charges with our bank, and they offered NO REFUND or allowance, the owner informed us that "That's what insurance is for." Quote unquote. SF City Glass is incompetent, unprofessional, unwilling to offer solutions, offers despicable "customer service" and uses short cuts to get basic work done. Replacing a windshield on a common car should not have required this migraine! more
