Old Town Albuquerque is where the city originated 300 years ago. It is now a bustling tourist area with shops, museums, restaurants and even a Ghost Tour.
Old Town Albuquerque is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon wandering around the plaza shopping, visiting and learning about the history of Albuquerque.
The Plaza is dominated by the San Felipe de Neri Catholic church on the North side. You can tour the church or visit the museum with relics of the past 300 years.
The shops in Old Town range from your typical souvenirs to clothing stores to Art Galleries. If you have the time pick up a brochure for the local Ghost Tour that is held there nightly starting at 8pm. There is also a "Walking Tour of Old Town" offered by the Albuquerque Art Museum for $2 this is a fun tour that tells you about the history of the area as well as the architecture you will find there.

Looking for a nice breakfast, fast lunch, something different for dinner or even just a tasty snack?
Try Flying Star on Juan Tabo, there are several locations around town but this is my favorite location because you can sit outside with your dog. They even have a box of dog cookies and a water trough outside.
Flying Star offers some of the best food and the most interesting combinations of food and atmosphere. If you want to sit inside and read a magazine they offer them both for sale or borrow. You simply sit in the magazine area and you can read anything you like while you eat your food.
One of my favorite meals at Flying Star is the BBQ Brisket Sandwich with Onion Rings and Cole Slaw. As a Texas girl I know my BBQ and nothing comes close to it like their BBQ Sandwich. They also have great Turkey Sandwiches, this is a place where you will find nice thick slices of "REAL" turkey not that sliced stuff from the deli. This is just like the turkey you make at home for Thanksgiving.
But enough about the food the desserts are absolutely to die for. The chocolate cakes they offer by the slice or you can purchase a whole cake are enough to make you leave the comfort of your home at 9:30 at night just for a bite. If you get the chance try the Naranja chocolate cake. It is a thick, smooth, rich cake with just a hit of orange flavoring in it.
