Driving down Atherton, you might miss this hip little restaurant--but I would say that they make the BEST PIZZA IN STATE COLLEGE. That's right, I said it. Best pizza in town. Not only that, they've got some great other dishes as well. Huge porch to sit on in sunnier days, and a wide selection of beer to enjoy. Great place for families, dates, or a night with friends.

Yes, there are plenty of Penn State Items here, and also a few textbooks. This is a great place to buy basics supplies, too, if you're willing to pay three times the price you would pay at Walmart. THe bookstore is fine, and the staff are nice, but you can find better deals pretty much anywhere else in town. While they might carry a few unique items that nobody else has, overall it would be more worth your money to shop downtown for PSU stuff or out at the box stores for school supplies.

This is a great place to bring a date--what could be more romantic than skating around, hand-in-hand? (although, in my case, it would be falling into his arms because I can't stand up on skates). ...
This is a great place to bring a date--what could be more romantic than skating around, hand-in-hand? (although, in my case, it would be falling into his arms because I can't stand up on skates). Anyway, you can rent skates here and it's a great, unusual place to go. Also, I have friends who have had their kids' birthday parties here and they are a great success, kids love it, parents love it, and its good exercise.

This place is located right downtown and they give students a discount. While it may not have the newfangled cushy seats or the cupholders, this theater is usually well-cleaned and run by friendly people. Just because it is an older theater does not affect the movie viewing expereince. I would rather go here than the dinky older theater out by Benner Piks. Yes, there is a newer, larger theater near the mall, but when you're downtown and want to catch a flick, CInema 5 will do the trick.

The best thing about Balfurd's is that they offer monthly specials. For example, right now they have a $20 off wedding dress cleaning. Sometimes they run a coat cleaning special and a sweater special. There are two easy to access locations and the service is solid. I've never had any problems with them, and I would trust any of my garments to Balfurd's.

Before I moved to PA I had no idea the difference between a 6-pack shop and a beer distributer. Hickey's will only sell large quantities of beer--you can't get a 6-pack here (as my husband discovered the other day when he came home with a case of beer--not that he complained). Anyway, they have good prices and they are very helpful--they carry the beer to your car and the service is very quick. Highly reccommended.

Brewsky's is our first stop for out tailgates...in fact, some wiseguy bought us matching Brewsky's T-shirts for our wedding, and we wear them proudly. They have a number of locations around town, they have great beer selection and good prices. However, they keep prices down by accepting cash only, so be prepared to hand over the green, not the plastic.
Great service and good product.

I had a printing job that needed to get done ASAP, and I was freaking out about the image that I sent to them. The people who work there were very calming and walked me through the process of resending the image they needed in an alternate form. They were courteous and friendly and didn't even get upset that I was so stressed out. In fact, their professionalism was soothing.
And, the best part was that the final product was impressive. I would definately use them again.

SOmetimes I feel like I'm in a third world country taking a cab with these vehicles....but it is a mode of transport and will get you where you're going. If another cab company opened in the area and had newer cars, Handy would run out of customers....BUT, since there are few cabs and lots of people, they do OK. THe drivers are friendly and the cabs are usually on time if you call for one, but do not try to get a ride during peak bar hopping hours.

This place has some really weird gift-type items, so if you've got a friend that is hard to shop for and is 15-30 years old, this is the place to go. There are some good gag gifts, odd T-shirts, and some genuinely bizzare items along with great proucts suck at dirty girl lip gloss and soaps.
While some of the items are cool, the prices are a little higher than they should be. However, where else will you find inflatable furniture and other weird household goods?
