I recently had the pleasure of eating in the brand new Sweet Basils, located on the first floor of the old Reeds Dept. Store.
This eatery is unusual in that it also is a Kitchen supply store, offering various kitchen and dining room gadgets, table cloths, aprons and such. When you finish dining, you can browse through the various gizmos and small appliances. They also offer demonstrations of various gadgets during the course of the day.
The tables are arranged around the huge windows, making dining a pleasure. The meals are ordered at the counter and you pay there and sit down and eat.
I had a “Sweet Basil Signature Salad” which had cheese and walnuts and a lovely house dressing. Very well done, salad was fresh and cheese was ample. My girlfriend had the Wedding Soup and pasta salad, which again, was ample and fresh. For desert we split one of their huge cinnamon rolls.
The cost was very reasonable, and the ambiance was delightful. The staff were very courteous, helpful and the restaurant was clean and comfortable.
A delightful dining experience, the Sweet Basil Eatery is a great addition to downtown Mansfield.
