Great place to eat convenient to Downtown Columbus 8/2/2005

This Max & Ermas is located in the mall at City Center. We were in town for an event and ended up here with a good friend for dinner. Max & Ermas used to be owned by Max & Erma but it has become a Midwest Chain specializing in burgers, but the menu has more to offer. Lots of appetizers, soups, salads and more. But its the burgers, especially the garbage burger that has more toppings than is natural for a burger to have. But the burgers taste fresh, made to order, and you can get them built any way you want. The Max & Ermas at City Center is cozy, meaning the tables are close together, but not stacked on each other. The lighting is dim, offering intimate dinners if you are so inclined. The staff were on the ball the night we were there, making sure our drinks were always full and we had everything we could need. The restaurant itself was very clean. I recommend the buffalo-style chicken fingers and the loaded cheese fries for appetizers, and in the burger department, the garbage burger is always popular and my personal favorite is the bacon & cheddar burger. The pricing is also reasonable for this kind of restaurant, with burgers in the $9 range and the appetizers in the $7 range. Drinks vary with what you choose. Our dinner for three came to about $75 with tips and drinks. For downtown Columbus, we felt we got a good deal. This is a nice, friendly place to meet friends and have a friendly dinner in downtown Columbus. more
