I am just going to say it upfront. Don't use the Chinatown buses if you don't want to put your life at risk. The ride is downright scary. I recently took the bus from Baltimore to New York thinking that any bus that is about 10 bucks cheaper than greyhound can't be anything other than a good thing. I was dead wrong. First of all, the entire bus, including the undercarriage, wreaked of the toilet and just being on the thing for three+ hours made me about sick. I could have dealt with smell but never before, save a few late night cab rides with a cab driver who is on the back end of a double shift, have I consider half way through the ride to ask the driver to pull over because I was litterally afraid for my life. The driver drove the bus like a small sports car, flooring it and then slamming on the breaks just moments before he would have slammed into the back of an 18 wheeler. And it wasn't just once or twice that this happened. Literally, this wreckless endangerment occured for the entire longevity of the trip. On a less noteworthy, though still important point, if you do still consider to ignore my heedance, the driver was also not the kindest person and when i tried talking to him at the beginning and end of the trip about my ticket, he became annoyed that I couldn't communicate with him despite the fact that he spoke maybe three words of english.
I am not just some angry customer trying to get revenge on an innocent company or some competitor secretely trying to get you to use my service. When I told a friend of my misadventure, he told me he had heard the same thing from numerous people who also said they would never again venture onto one of these buses and he also mentioned that the City of New York itself warns against using the service as they deem it unsafe and are also looking into it for its connections to organized crime. Do yourself a favor and pay a reputable bus company 10 bucks more each way to ensure safe passage.

If you really want a cheap ride to Boston for 10 bucks you should buy your ticket at fung wah bus. it's the same as riding grey hound, and there is probably less of a chance that they will be a delay unalike greyhound. however, it comes to the point of whether you're willing to risk the fact that these buses aren't known for their safety. it is well known that these buses are not well know for their fire safety. however, i have taken these buses often for cheap rides to boston, and they are pretty dependable.

Burger Joint, buried behind a curtain in the back of the lobby of the Parker Meridien Hotel (but smellable throughout the first floor), used to be a great place to get a quick, simple meal well done. However, too much hype has made the place simply impossible to patronize any further. Show up any time you want--you won't wait less than a full 20 minutes to get your food (a good rule of thumb is, if the line is inside the door, you *might* consider waiting it out). Plus, they have raised their prices at least 30% since I first went there--what was once a $7.50 meal of a burger, fries and a drink will now run you at least $12. And hey, it's just a friggin' burger. Go up the street toward 7th to the Teleon Deli and get essentially the same thing in half the time for less money.

I stayed at this Hotel for one night. My friends were here in NY and they were staying there for about 4 days. I went to visited them and got stay stay at the hotel for one night. It has a convenient location (right next to Grand Central!), and how accessible it is to every major city sight! It's a grand hotel, indeed, and the rooms are always comfortable and the concierge service is always helpful. It is a superior first class, dramatic, 35 story hotel with mirrored facade and dazzling atrium lobby complete with waterfall, located adjacent to Grand Central Station at Park Avenue and Forty-Second Street It's easy to arrive from the airport by New York Airport Service. The hotel was very nice. A bit pricey but worth it!

I have never actually been in the limo with this place but I had a horrible experince with their service. They quoted one price and said to call back shortly before it was needed. Then when I called they said first they never had the 10 seater white limo, and they said the price was almost double the original quote. Never again!

I have heard some people refer to these Chinatown buses as being "sketchy," but I do not know anyone who has ever had a problem with them. This particular bus company actually does have a website. It is http://www.luckystarbus.com/ for anyone who might want to check it out. The prices are cheaper than say Shortline or Greyhound, but not by as much anymore. The difference used to be very large, but I think that Greyhound has been cutting their fares because of companies like this one. I believe that there are destinations aside from Boston, like Baltimore, Washington D.C., etc.

Living in New York City is extremely expensive, so if you live elsewhere but work there, taking New Jersey Transit may be a good idea for you. It is by no means cheap, but it is much more economical than living in the city. You can sleep on the bus while to go to or from work. The buses run pretty often during peak hours.

More
The Waldorf-Astoria (probably the flagship of the Hilton hotels -- yeah, betcha didn't know it's owned by Hilton!) is a beautifully restored hotel in the heart of New York City. For its smaller rooms, the prices are not bad, but anything that's executive room or bigger is very expensive. That being said, I was blwon away by one of their suites a few months ago, when I had the opportunity to stay there with my parents. This place had a full dining room and table in it! Absolutely beautiful. And the service at the Waldorf is fantastic. There are also some great restaurants and bars onsite too. So, somewhat pricey but if you can afford it, this is a magnificent place to stay.

JetBlue is one of the best airlines flying today. They understand what customers really want in airline travel: reasonable prices, and decent in-flight entertainment. If you plan a few weeks in advance, you can frequently get flights to a number of destinations for under $100 per seat. I have not yet had any problems with them losing luggage or leaving me stranded somewhere. Their occasional sales give you the perfect excuse for a quick weekend getaway.

More
I have always loved sailing in the water and the Circle Line Cruise Line Tours are one of my favorite things to do in the city. There are a bunch of tours from which to choose. "The Beast" is a 30-minute speedboat trip with loud music blasting in the background--probably for the younger crowds. I prefer the relaxing cruise around Manhattan. It's more romantic and peaceful. The best time to ride is at sunset. There is live music and dancing too. Everyone must go.
