The other day my wife and I place an order for flowers to send to her mother. She called back and adjusted the order so that the flowers delivered at our home instead of her mother's. The customer service on the phone was abrupt. Okay. Fine.
My wife calls again this evening asking when the flowers would be delivered (supposed to be today). Customer service was, again, abrupt and didn't offer to check the tracking to see if the flowers were even out of the shop yet. Just not taking care of us. I understand it is a big holiday season but to get repeat business you have to take care of the customers especially when it is busy. Rude customer service.
The doorbell rings. We look out the window and see a guy walking away. I open the door and the flowers are sitting outside the door. We had delivery instructions to bring to the rental office if we are not home. I follow the delivery man to the truck and ask why he rang and ran. Bachman's policy is to drop the flowers off at the door. I asked what happens if someone steals the flowers, we have a front door but the entry area is open with other townhomes having access. We'd have to call Bachman's and they would deliver flowers for free. Great, but what if we needed them that day? He didn't care. Very rude, poor service and did not follow delivery instruction.
A call back to customer service. It is, in fact, Bachman's policy to drop off the flowers if not cold outside and to not deliver to rental office because it might "slow down" the deliveries. Nothing about the fact that the delivery was made to a common area.
To top it off, my wife's mother also received a delivery from the original order before we changed it. Rang the apartment and left it in the entry way to an apartment building with maybe a hundred units...and this is after she said she would be right down.
But, to show this isn't just one experience, two years ago the sales people at Bachman's were very rude when she was shopping around for a florist to use at our wedding. They didn't get our business then and they won't get our business in the future. Customer service was rude and uncaring, delivery was rude, in store people have been rude, and the delivery policy is unreliable if you don't have a private entryway only for your own family.
Our business will be going elsewhere.

The most beautiful flowers that I have ever ordered have come from this florist. Any time I have needed a corsage or a boutinere or a vase of flowers, we have bought them from here. It has a definite small town florist shop feel in the middle of a bigger city. They have very competitive prices and the staff are knowledgable and friendly and most importantly helpful

They will do whatever they can to find just the right piece for the one spot in your house you have been trying to figure out what would work there. They also have a really nice clearance area, i got two wonderful pieces for my bedroom.. Delivery is prompt and professional. I honestly didn't think they were going to get that couch through the door, but they did it and on Chirstmas Eve no less

Bloomers Floral in Brooklyn Center is a great place to buy or send flowers! The owner is very friendly and helped me pick out the perfect arrangement i was in need of. He also went above and beyond and offered to deliver this free since it was going somewhere really close by! I could not have asked for better service. Their flowers are beautiful & the prices were even lower than most places! I definitely recommend giving this florist a try.

Minnehaha Falls Nursery and Garden Store is a great alternative to Bachmans, which can be pretty formulaic with their variety. The Minnehaha Falls Nursery is more reasonable priced and you will come across the occasional plant or flower variety that is not typical. This can be nice for a garden edition if you don't want to be like everyone else and part of the purple army.

I like the MInneapolis Floral flower shop. They have fun, unique flower arrangements, suitable for an urban setting. They also have a good sized greenhouse with tons of plants. The helpful staff can help you choose out flowers and a card. They have cute little things to go with flowers, like baloons and stuffed animals.

If youre an average person and do not want to pay for the furniture at places like Room & Board, then HOM Furniture will work out great. They have multiple locations throughout the Metro area, its usually best to try to shop around at 2-3 of their locations and see if theres a difference in their selections. The store down in Lakeville is one of their larger showrooms, but you should be able to find all of their items at most locations.
Love their product selection. Usually have a wide variety of bedroom, living room, kitchen furniture. All of their furniture is well made. Their sales people are great also. Never felt pressured or had any sales person breathing down my neck at HOM. Youre free to walk around and browse without someone following you around. There is a fee for deliveries, but it is small and worth it if you dont have access to a truck to pick up the furniture yourself.
They also have a play area for children, and a small seating area with free coffee and cookies. Nice for taking a break from shopping and giving the kids a treat.
Pros: Selection, no pressure sales staff.

If I can't find something at Home Depot or Target, I head to Rex's. I have been there more than once when I can't find a bathtub plug that fits, or a certain type of doorknob. They have come through for me. Very nice for pickign up the unusual stuff. Great service, too. They have always been willing to answer questions for me.

If you don't mind plants that are a little on the small side-Lyndale Garden Center has the best deal going-Perennials in 3 1/2 inch pots for 1.99 each (regular price is 3.99-but they are ALWAYS 50% off). Good selection of Shrubs and Annuals as well. They also have one of the better end-of-the-season sales--with all plants, trees and shrubs up to 50% off.
Easy to find on Lyndale avenue-close to Bachman's and Uncommon Gardens as well-so you can combine all your plant shopping in one trip.
