Brix is still imaginative and always pleasing even after being open now for over 4 years...(which is rare anymore for any Indianapolis independent.) be sure to check it out for yourself and double check the info listed here....Citysearch is very outdated in Indianapolis. Brix no longer does Brunch and isn't open 7 days a week....i also think it is improperly listed as a "bakery." I have emailed citysearch and they don't seem to be on the ball. Brix is definitely more of an American Bistro and changes its menu seasonally. It is a very unassuming yet romantic and stylish atmosphere. Kids are welcome as far as I know, but I have to say like so many other restaurants, I wish parents would bring the misbehaved ones early in the evening and keep the dinner hours reserved for the well behaved children. I digress. Brix is highly recommended and should not be missed!
(One side note--I was very impressed last time I was in with 3 other diners. One of my guests wasn't crazy about a particular spice used in his dish (he said it was just too spicy for his taste) and the owner (or manager?) happily took the entire dish off of our bill and quickly replaced his dish. No questions asked. We even got a free dessert. I was very impressed!
Pros: You can reserve the bar for private catered dining--it's perfect!

Several friends of ours frequent the place and said they had a good brunch, and have been trying to get us to go for many months now. Wish I had gone sooner, it is going to be a favorite. One of the other guests there told us they come all the time, best food around they said.
Beer List including Three Floyds Dreadnaught the Sunday night we were there.
Had great pulled pork and my wife had a perfectly cooked piece of fresh fish. Food came quickly and our server was nice.
Not too expensive, except for the Dreadnaught which I have never had anywhere else.
Pros: Everyone was helpful
Cons: No smoking and there were some happy kids

This local owned tavern is always hopping with people. You almost always have to wait for a table but they are pretty quick. The food is very good and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. They offer daily specials. No one under 18 is allowed.

There's a reason they call it Friendly's!! Everyone there is really friendly! They have hometown food like burgers, and good old fashioned vegetable soup. But one thing that many people order (about one order per table according to the manager!!) is their tenderloins! They have a person dedicated to cooking tenderloins all day.
It started out as a buggy house, but was turned into a bar in the 1950's. There are a few tables that are favorites and hard to get, like the big round table by the big screen.

I had heard so much about this restaurant that my son and I decided to try it one day for lunch. Boy were we disappointed. First of all the waiter was very rude regardless of what we asked her. Once we did receive our food the portions were extremely small for the price. The atmosphere was very stuffy and we must have gone on senior citizen day because we didn't see anyone else close to our age. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This restaurant was excellent. The atmosphere was classy, yet not stuffy. Our waiter (Eric) helped us with the wine selection and even gave us a few samples to help us decide. All of the food tasted great and the presentation of the food was absolutely fabulous - not what you would expect for a restaurant in such a small city. All six in our party choose something different from the menu and every entree was perfect. The chocolate desserts were amazing, however, we thought the key-lime pie and the white-chocolate raspberry cheesecake could be sweeter. All of the prices for the wine and entrees were great for what you received. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great kids menu too - smaller portions of all of their great entrees. Call to ask them to fax you a copy of their menu.
Pros: Great Food, Reasonable Prices, Wine/Entree Selection

I'd say on the whole the pizza compared with that of a Bellacino's, but today's lunch for two cost me $18. A one item slice was $3.10 and a slice of the combo was $3.45. That's just plain too much dough, if you know what I mean. I won't be going back since I didn't appreciate being surprised by the total when the prices of the individual slices weren't listed anywhere (I just figured they'd be in the $2.00 to $2.50 range like most places). They get an average rating from this poor working schlep who works real hard for $18.
Pros: decent pizza
Cons: WAY too expensive, and they don't advertise prices on individual slices because of it.

I was never a Chinese food person until someone talked me into going to this local restaurant. This is the only place I'll eat chinese. The food is very, very good, large portions, fast and friendly service and good value for the money. They are always friendly and go out of their way to make sure everything is the way you like it.
