Dirty facility lazy staff, poor management 12/27/2013

My family member recently was taken to anderson hospital ER with classic heart attack symptoms. The nurses set up an xray and took blood. Never hooked up blood pressure cuff or did an ekg, then had the nerve to tell this patient that they were having a panic attack. These nurses were more concerned with watching videos on their phones and complaining about each other and gripping about having to deal with another patient. Most were very unfriendly. We were all shocked at this behavior. Where is the floor nurse? They need someone who isnt afraid to take charge and tell these nurses to do their jobs or leave!! Also, the facility is dirty. Floors need to be mopped and rooms wiped down. Took family member to different hospital, they did find a heart attack had happened. Will NEVER go back there! more

Mixed reaction 7/8/2005

My second child was delivered at Providence, and I have visited there emergency room once when he was 4 months old. During our trip to the emergency room when my son was four months old, I found the staff calm, professional and extremely helpful. I also had good experiences with the staff on the maternity ward when our son was delivered. But, I do have some complaints about the facilities. During delivery the button meant to contact the nurse did not work--which caused me not to get an epidural as soon as I would have otherwise, and it ended up coming too late to take full affect (the process of putting in the epidural itself was painless, though--in contrast to my last epidural at a different hospital, which was extremely painful). During my stay after delivery it seemed like they were always out of something--minor things, like cups or aspirators--but there was quite a number of little things like that that were not well stocked. The maternity room itself was comfortable, although I found it too cold at night. One nice thing they provide there is a "Celebration Meal" which you can share with another person (at most hospitals the meals are only served to the mother, even thought the father may have been there through the whole process.) If I could rate the emergency room and maternity ward separately, I would rate the emergency room exceptional and the maternity ward average. more
