I purchased a puppy from this horrible disgraceful store. Two days later my puppy was diagnosed with Girdia and Kennel Cough, two very serious and highly contagious dog illness. Chances are all the puppies are infected. I filed a state complaint and the states ASPCA whom I've spoke to sveeral times informed me that there in the top five in complaints for selling sick dogs in the state. Also I was informed they receive there dogs form Lambriar Kennels in AR which notably receives there sick puppies from a CJC kennels a known puppy mill. I will not return my pup to this hell hole because I know she will not get the proper treatment at Animals and Things. BUYER BEWARE or you will end up with countless dollars in vet bills like me.

Seriously, why would you write a bad review about this place if your dog died or something was wrong with it, its not thier fault? Everyone knows any pet store's animals are not 100%, also the sales staff has to make you aware that animals are not magical and try not to expect a lassy from the TV show, even purchasing from a breeder you cant expect the best, but hey some jersey people will just put anything on the charge card! My only comment to you all is regardless of the stupid dog problems, this place has been here for years! How the dumb governer or whomever allowed a "petsfart" to be installed by shoprite is just plain rediculous. You should support the local mom and pop place regardless of its design or looks, the place is massive and full of knowledge, way more then you would find from the place around the corner, come on jersey get it together, support something thats been in the community for years before they rip it down and put another bank or some stupid monstrosity.

Arrogant Sales guy made a fool out of himself today.I went in there to buy a Colombian Red Tail Boa. I saw that the sign said ColUmbian instead of Colombian, so I mentioned it to the sales person. For some reason he got jumpy and told me that it's spelled with a U and that the country is also spelled with a U. I then told him I was Colombian and that I assure him it's with an O. Anyways, for anyone wondering it is with an O and is commonly misspelled as ColUmbian instead of Colombian. After that incident my brother asked him questions about the snake and he immaturely said to ask (me) Mr. know it all. Quite unproffessional, typical of NJ.
The end.

My family bought a "golden retriever" here. On top of various health problems(mainly awful skin problems our vet said were not our fault. Especially on her poor paws), she isn't a golden retriever at all! She is a Chesapeake Bay retriever. They said the curls would "grow out". We bought a Chocolate Lab which lead us to suspect they get their dogs from puppy mills. She had many birth defects including hip dysplasia. She had such severe hip dysplasia her left leg wasn't even in the socket, and the right only 30%. She went though a horrible surgery and to this day has so much trouble walking. She also has severe eye problems. A&T offered to take her back and on the "down low" mentioned putting her to sleep for being "defective" and unable for sale to anyone else. How could you mention putting an animal that we'd already fallen in love with to sleep? And to call her DEFECTIVE?? I hate animals and things. I will never support them again. not even buying dog food.

I absolutely love Animals N Things. Growing up, we bought our Pug from this store and had no problems. I've also purchased both of my chinchillas from Animals N Things, and the staff was very helpful about giving advice on how to care for them. Recently I purchased a Maltese puppy from A&T as a Christmas gift and he had a successful vet checkup. He's a healthy puppy and has really brought a lot of joy into our home. I highly recommend this store, as I have only had great experiences with them.

Do not buy any animal from this disgusting place! My friend bought a
dog for his son for Christmas here. It is a 12 week old Dachshund
that he picked up this past Saturday. However, he ending up bringing
the dog to his vet yesterday only to find out this dog had an upper
respiratory infection, high fever and on the road to pneumonia. The
vet stated what the dog has could not have contracted this sickness
in the past few days but this has been going on for a while. The vet
stated this and all of the other dogs in contact or near each this dog
needs to be treated since this type of illness in animals is highly
contagious. The dog was returned and money refunded, however,
will they even take care of this dog now since they had the audacity
to even sell a sick dog? Stay away and save yourself a headache!

I just checked it out and it was wall to wall dirt, the poor animals in dirty
cages no food or water, filled with their own fecal. A couple was having
one of the horrible employees show them a dog, he grabbed the dog by
the neck and pulled him out of the cage, the dog urinated on the floor,
none cleaned it up. I also saw other accidents on the floor from customers
bringing in their own pets, no one that worked there seemed to care .I
tried to email them about the mess and dissatisfying experience I had
but there is no valid email. Also check the dates on your products a
good portion of the items I looked out were outdated.
DO NOT GIVE THIS STORE YOUR TIME OR MONEY

Being a vet tech in the area for several years, I have seen many an unkempt animal from here. Their domestic cats are soo overpriced and they are sick on top of it. If you buy them it only leaves room for someone else to breed more dogs to sell them here. You are promoting a very bad market! Go to your shelter or rescue group if you want a pet.
