You can go to a giant screen theater anytime, but this is one of those classic old fashioned movie houses that are few and far between nowadays. This is an old building, but it has a lot of character and you have got to like the area that surrounds the theatre. The shops nearby and the streets have a small town charm and and country-like atmosphere. The theatre shows first run films, but they are art films or indie. films mostly.

This movie theatre is an undiscovered gem for north siders. A quick drive to Wilmette and you have a perfect little movie theatre surrounded by cute shops and restaurants. There are two theatres, and it's the perfect place for a double feature (which costs about what you'd pay for one mainstream movie at the cineplex). The manager is extremely knowledgable about the film biz and as a result, there are tons of interesting indie films to see here.

The Wilmette Theatre is a small, two screen theatre in downtown Wilmette. It shows mostly art films. Each screen has fairly limited seating about 250, so a viewer feels a bit cozy with all the others. The floor can be a bit sticky or slimy in places, but that’s what you get with an older theatre. Free street parking is available right in front of the Theatre. They were also selling old movie posters out front.
