Why is it that one store can have your furniture in three days and another cannot, and yet both pieces of furniture are being shipped from China? Why, because one company knows what it is doing and the other does not. With the housing slump, and stores such as Levitz and Domain out of business, you would think there would be a huge inventory of furniture, waiting to be purchased and delivered promptly, but not for Peter Andrews.
Anyway, I purchased furniture at Peter Andrews and when I asked how long it would take for delivery, the person responded, "2 - 3 weeks tops", invoice had written on it "up to 4 weeks". 4 weeks came and went with no furniture and no call from the store. So I called and I was told it would take about 3 more months to get all my furniture, so I cancelled order and I am fighting with credit card company and store to get my money back. Yet, Peter Andrews customer service said they would handle the credit. Also, they suggested a loner which I have come to find is SOP for them, but could not guarantee that I would have the furniture in 3 months. I think they would have tried to talk me into keeping the loner at a slightly discounted price. Classic case of "bait and switch" as they ran an ad in the paper for the furniture at an attractive price as a way to bait you into the store, than hoped you would actually switch and potentially purchase something else that you could walk out with that day. It is clear they don't want to really be in the furniture business when it comes to larger items. It's a scam and they have been successful at it for years.
Wife and kids upset over the whole thing, so I most likely will get a permit to allow me to protest in front of their stores. I hate getting screwed and merchants hate protest more than lawyers.
The bottom line is I would have never ever purchased the furniture had I known that it would have taken 3 months or longer to get, and they know that as well, so that is why they sales person who claims to have worked there for over 10 years (you would think that amount of time there he would have been better at estimating delivery), lied to get the sale.
One more thing, while I was on hold one day with someone from the store at Peter Andrews, when the lady came back on the line, she asked if I was the person (waiting on a furniture delivery) that wanted to compensated by them for all the time he had spent trying to get his furniture delivered? I said "no, that must be your other line". She took it in stride as if it was business as usual. What are the odds of that?
