For a quiet place to nourish your spirit and your mind, visit The Clark, officially known as the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The museum offers several exhibits, which vary so check ahead if you need to know in advance. When we were there, we saw some beautiful impressionist paintings, as well as a portrait exhibit. The grounds of The Clark are a visual treat themselves in typical lush Berkshire style. Williamstown itself is a quaint town with plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you entertained before or after The Clark.

To anyone who knows Williamstown, this will not come as a shock.: the Clark Institute is one of the best places in central and Western Massachusetts to enjoy art. The selection of artists ranges from anonymous middle-age masters to some oustanding modern creators. My own personal favourties were a set of benches, scattered around the museum by a modern American artist, and the renaissance collection.
The only drawback of this museum is that parking can be sometimes a nuisance.
