Ambrose is pretty popular up in Uptown Whittier. All the locals know it and love it. Not quite sure why though. Its okay, but for as long as they have been around, they should be better. I really like the employees. They are always nice and they bring in some good bands occasionally. But its painful because I just don't look forward to eating their food and so I try and eat before I go and listen to the bands. Sorry Ambrose.

In over thirteen years I've watched this establishment go from small hole-in-the-wall to fully fledged bar and pizzeria. These days they serve beer, have shows with great bands, and offer a wider variety on their menu. But through it all the quality of their pizza has remained impeccable...and prices low.

I went to Ambrose a couple weeks ago, and was really disappointed. This restaurant has been around for a long time and I dont know if its under new management or if it was just a bad night, or what. But the food was awful. I ordered a chicken salad. They kept getting the order wrong, and I patiently kept going back to correct it. Once the salad was finally correct, it tasted....well, like nothing. It was so bland. The chicken had no flavor, the lettuce was cheap (I was lucky enough to get the very insides of a head of lettuce), the dressing was awful. I really felt bad because the lady who rang us up (maybe the owner or manager, not sure) was SO kind. Really, truly a nice lady. But our food just wasnt worth it. My husband got a small pizza and it was just okay. The decor there has changed...they have redone it and it looks much better than it used to, but the food just was not good.
