A friend of mine wanted to go out for lunch today and wanted a decent burger. We didn't feel like driving too far so didn't hit Culver's but instead decided to go to Schoop's Burgers, a local chain to the South Suburbs of Chicago and NW Indiana.
Their burgers are great....my friend got a double cheeseburger and onion rings with a shake and I got a Swiss Mushroom burger with fries and a Mr Pibb. I believe they use steakburgers too.
The service, however, left a lot to be desired. Two different waitresses waited on us....one took the order while the other gave us the food and drinks. Then we had to remind them of the drinks we ordered. FInally they screwed up with the checks. We had asked for seperate checks but one showed up...turned out to be the wrong one but in the end we did get the checks.
I don't think I'll be going back to this location anytime soon because of the service. I might check out their other locations for sure. Their prices could be a bit lower too.

Schoop's has been making quality hamburgers in northwest Indiana for over 55 years. They may be pricier than the national chains (they start at $3.55 for a single hamburger), but the portions are quite generous. They also sell French fries in the same generous portions, with or without cheese cups. Drinks include hot coffee and tea, various sodas, shakes and malts. Other sandwiches available include grilled chicken and BLT. The wait staff is always friendly, whether you eat there or get your food to go. The burgers are pressed flat to cook quickly, and never look like assembly line food. They make their food fresh, and everything's ready within ten minutes. Some Schoop's locations (though not this one) open for breakfast. I always leave a tip because I always get good service and a good meal whenever I go to Schoop's.
Hours for this location are: Monday - Saturday - 10 AM - 9 PM
Sunday - 11 AM - 8 PM
PROS: Good food to eat there or take home
CONS: Other Schoop's serve breakfast; not this one
