This is a great place to spend a Saturday with the family. They have paddle boats, mini golf, swimming, and arcade games, as well as golf and plenty of places to walk. There are picnic tables and places to eat indoors. The White Palace at Wheeling Park offers a spectular (albeit expensive) place for receptions and parties. Companies can host picnics at Wheeling Park and be assured their workers will have plenty to keep them busy all day. There’s no better place in the Valley to spend a fun, relaxing day with the family for a reasonable price. Buy a wristband and play all day!

Independence Hall in Wheeling is the first capital of West Virginia. When Virginia was split from the Civil War and Wheeling was named the capital of this new state, Independence Hall is where everything happened. Much of the history of the Civil War is evident in this building's tour. They even have audio tours and films for those who come to visit. It is open every day except Sunday, during the day. So for those who love history and the Civil War or just those who want an educational outing with their children, this is the place to go.

Elm Grove Lanes is a pretty old but very well maintained bowling center. Their lanes are kept up quite well and they have a nice selection of bowling balls on hand. They have a nice snack bar with refreshments on site and they also carry a license to sell beer as well. I have been bowling there several times and all the employees are very friendly and helpful. There is a huge parking lot right in front.

Located in Centre Market in center Wheeling, this gallery is absolutely free to the public. It features works from local and regional artists. You can find many different kinds of art - from photography all the way down to greeting cards. They host a few different special exibitions at certain times of the month. They have what they call "First Friday" receptions for exhibitions of local artists and "Third Friday" coffeehouses to open their doors for local musicians. It's quite a unique experience in Wheeling and since it's free, there's no reason not to give it a try instead of sitting in front of the TV one evening.
