The Mix is a great station if you're tired of Top 40. Living up to its name, it mixes both wildly popular and slightly obscure hits from the seventies, eighties, nineties and current singles. Jim Conner has a fun, entertaining, and locally interactive morning show with plenty of chances to win fun prizes for you and even your workplace. A great station with something for everyone.

This is a great place to spend a Saturday with the family. They have paddle boats, mini golf, swimming, and arcade games, as well as golf and plenty of places to walk. There are picnic tables and places to eat indoors. The White Palace at Wheeling Park offers a spectular (albeit expensive) place for receptions and parties. Companies can host picnics at Wheeling Park and be assured their workers will have plenty to keep them busy all day. There’s no better place in the Valley to spend a fun, relaxing day with the family for a reasonable price. Buy a wristband and play all day!

This is a smaller sized, but it’s perfect for the kids. There is plenty to see and do for the smaller children and the older ones will love the big animals (the buffalo) and theatre. The little ones will love the trains and trails and petting zoo. The Christmas lights, in my opinion, are the main attraction though. They run from about Thanksgiving through New Years (give or take a few weeks) and are always breathtaking. Expect lines, but even a wait is okay when you have so many things to see. Olgebay is a great asset for Wheeling and the residents of the Ohio Valley.

Elm Grove Lanes is a pretty old but very well maintained bowling center. Their lanes are kept up quite well and they have a nice selection of bowling balls on hand. They have a nice snack bar with refreshments on site and they also carry a license to sell beer as well. I have been bowling there several times and all the employees are very friendly and helpful. There is a huge parking lot right in front.

The Capitol Music hall is a historic building in downtown Wheeling. It offers a wide range of entertainment options to pass the time. Mostly country and bluegrass music, you can still find rock, rap, and touring productions of Broadway hits from time to time. It also hosts dance recitals every spring. It's a great old theater, approaching the 100 year mark, and makes for a great atmosphere to enjoy all these shows.

If you're into the Top 40 hits, this is the station for you. One Top 40 hit after another, all day long. You can tune in and always know that your current Top 40 favorites will be played shortly. You can also keep up with things going on locally, and even get in on some contests and giveaways. If you're not into the Top 40 or its repetitiveness, this probably won't be the station for you - but for the MTV crowd, there's no other station that caters so well.

Wheeling West Virginia is hardly the first place people would think would play host to a symphony orchestra. But the Wheeling Symphony has many performances every season that sells to huge crowds at the Capital Music Hall, where they usually play, as well as many other venues around the state. They often hold shows for school groups to come in and allow children to be exposed to live classical masterpieces. It's a pretty unique experience in this town, and everyone should see it at least once.

Located in Centre Market in center Wheeling, this gallery is absolutely free to the public. It features works from local and regional artists. You can find many different kinds of art - from photography all the way down to greeting cards. They host a few different special exibitions at certain times of the month. They have what they call "First Friday" receptions for exhibitions of local artists and "Third Friday" coffeehouses to open their doors for local musicians. It's quite a unique experience in Wheeling and since it's free, there's no reason not to give it a try instead of sitting in front of the TV one evening.

Jamboree in the Hills, based in Wheeling, takes place every summer in Morristown Ohio. For country fans that don't mind hanging out outside for a few days, this is a can't miss. I know a lot of people complain about the price, but when you break it down it's under $200 for 4 days worth of shows. And considering how many acts are scheduled, you're paying just a few dollars per show. It does get hot, sweaty, and smelly over there - and since drinking is one of the main attractions, it's not for the easily offended.

The Good Zoo is a nice little place to take the family. Although you can find bigger zoos within a few hours' drive, the Good Zoo will defintely keep the kids entertained (especially the little ones!). The zoo lacks the bigger exhibits, like aquariums, exotic animals, etc..., but they have a great petting zoo and a really fun train ride. My grandkids (2&4) love it there and we go as often as we can!
