A great place for children to interact with mostly farm animals. They have pigs, llamas, goats, turtles and many other wildlife animals. You can also reserve birthday parties for your child at the zoo. There is plenty of parking although it can become scarce during the weekend. They have paved sidewalks to go from exhibit to exhibit. A great alternative if you live in the suburbs to take your child if you don't want to go to the city Zoo.

This is sort of like a petting zoo, except you don't get to pet the animals, lol. When you first walk in to your right you will see a pond with a lot of varieties of ducks and geese. As you walk on into the barn you will find sheep, goats, cows, rabbits and maybe a few other animals. I guess now that I think of it, you can pet those animals. As you exit the barn you will find a large horse, a llama, deer, pigs, chickens. Additionally they have a bird exhibit, raccoons, foxes and peacocks. Quite an interesting array of animals. There is a little gift shop and place to buy a snack. The gift shop has some neat little items. In the fall they sell pumpkins and in the winter, trees. One neat aspect is that there is an old railroad car that the kids can climb in and explore.
I'd say it's good for kids under 10. Older than that and they'd probably get bored.

Not only is Cosley Zoo FREE, but it's fun, too. The kids love getting close to the animals and playing on the train car. Seasonally, they have a pumpkin patch in the Fall and other activities around the holidays. The zoo is on the small side, but there is a lot to see, convinient parking, and come on, it's free!

Cosley Zoo has all sorts of animals, including pigs, a horse, a llama, etc. I think what the kids like the most, though, is the train car that they can climb into and explore. They also have seasonal activities, like a little hay maze type thing and a pumpkin patch in the fall. Definitely worth checking out!

Cosley Zoo is a great place for young kids. There are lots of farm animals to visit with. It does not take hours to go through like a traditional zoo, but is a place to hang out and enjoy. Fall is fun when they have it decorated for halloween, have pumpkins, gords, etc for sale. There is a train caboose for the kids to explore and best of all it is easy to get to and free.
You can picnic there on a nice day too.

For children 6 and under, this is a great zoo. It's very small, especially if you're used to Brookfield or Lincoln Park, but just the right size to keep a preschooler's interest and just the right size for them to run around without exhausting themselves. Mostly farm animals, with a few rehabilitated wild animals. And the best feature of this zoo is that it's free!
PROS: FREE AND NOT TOO BIG
CONS: PARKING IS NOT GREAT

The Cosley Zoo in Wheaton is a great FREE place to bring the kids on a summer day. Did I mention it is free? There are lots of animals to see but not the tradional animals like lions, tigers, and bears oh my. This zoo has cows, llamas, horses, pigs, and ducks. It's more of a farm zoo. But the kids will love it nonetheless. There is a place to buy snacks while you are there and a cute little giftshop as well.
