I prefer gambling over at Stateline, but staying across the street at the Silver Smith. Both places get a little more fancied up all the time. Just don't expect a Vegas-style atmosphere -- and you'll be pleased. Wendover is a nice break from Salt Lake -- gamble 'til you drop, with the free drinks flowing.

Wendover, Nevada is only about 1.5 hours from Salt Lake City. It is a great place to go for a quick getaway. The Peppermill Hotel & Casino is a fun casino to go and play the slots. I've never stayed overnight in the hotel, but I've eaten here and played in their casino many times. If you go during the weekdays, it isn't overly crowded and isn't quite so smoky. Their buffet is decent and the price is right.

When you walk into the Rainbow Casino in Wendover, you'll know right away WHY it is named the Rainbow. The inside of the casino is decorated with thousands of neon lights, in many different colors. There are mirrors on all the walls, so all the lights reflect off of them and it makes the place look and feel like you stepped into a light show. I always find myself getting turned around in here because of this. It is an okay casino--not one of my favorites in Wendover, but it isn't the worst.
