If you are in the mood for something different, check out Bay Sweets in West Roxbury. Even if you do not speak Arabic, don't be intimidated - everyone speaks English and is very friendly. The sweets in the bakery are like French pastries and very good. But even better, are the traditional meat and spinach pies. Just ask for them at the counter. They also have prepared sandwiches, tabouleh, baba ganoush, etc, which are great. And fresh meat at the butcher in the corner. The olive 'bar' is better than any other grocery in Boston, and about 1/5 of the price. You will also find that some produce is much cheaper than in the grocery store.
