I can honestly say I've never had a dissapointing meal from Jimmy's. I've been going there for MANY years. The atmosphere is very casual (jeans) and the fact that it's located right on the water makes the wait very long in the summer, but when you don't mind waiting, visit this restaurant and you won't be dissapointed. The prices are average - not low, but not through the ceiling either. The seafood is really great and the desserts ?? Even better !! I really recommend this restaurant for a great meal ! Ask if its possible for a booth by the window (so you can see the beautiful ocean view). They don't accept reservations.

I will turn SIXTY tomorrow & Jimmies is still my favorite place to eat.
I've been going to Jimmies since I was an infant & eating Lobster Rolls from there almost as long. I have never, ever been disappointed at Jimmies & will once again eat there for my birthday.
I agree that the decor leaves something to be desired, but I've been to beautiful places where the food sucked. I've never seen it dirty & find that comment hard to believe.
Awhile ago, Jimmies was going to sell there location and close down, I cried.
Whenever my family or friends come back to CT to visit, the first place we all go is Jimmies.
I find it hard to believe the bad reviews.
ALL I CAN SAY IS JIMMIES FOREVER !!!!

Captain's Galley, across from the Beach, is able to serve great beef dishes, and seafood, and Italian - I find it rare that a restaurant can do all three well.
There are amazing specials - a HUGE filet mignon - it looks like a small roast, with salad, veggie and starch, bread basket, etc. for super cheap and it is amazingly good. Easily something that could feed two people - you will definately have leftovers. Some of their pasta seafood items seem steep in price in comparision to the beef entrees
The problem is their is a very long wait and not much space in the bar to wait. So you either wait outside, which is OK in the summer (although the bar service is slow and appetizers are not available while you wait as of the last time I was there, which was an hour wait). You can go walk the beach, but it is hard to know when your turn will come up. I would recommend going at lunch time, it is cheaper and not as busy.

What is wrong with you people? We hadn't been there in sometime and granted they could have changed hands again or hired a new chef and/or staff but the food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We were seated immediately (Sunday-5:30 PM) and greeted warmly. I had the stuffed sole and my husband had scallops wrapped in bacon and topped with mozzarella in light tomato sauce. Both were excellent. Definitely enough left for two, maybe three more meals! Perhaps a bit pricey, but what restaurant worth going to isn't these days. Go, you'll love it!

I've been going to Zuppardi's for 40 years and it has consistently been the best pizza ever! Their recipes and ingredients have remained the same and the quality is always great. The best part about going to Zuppardi's is that it is family owned and operated. You can be sure you'll always see family making the pizza, which promises they will taste great all of the time. They have also just introduced take out dinners, soups and sauces! Now you can take the same quality that they've instilled in their pizza and bring home a quality meal for the family. My favorite is their Broccoli Rabe and Sausage Soup...My family goes crazy over it!! I can't drive by Union Avenue without stopping. And probably the best part is seeing Lori or Cheryl there. They always make you feel at home, like a family would!
Pros: Pizza is great, Lori and Cheryl and their families are always there!
Cons: Wish there were more locations!

We went here as a family. This is a great place to eat that is by the water. Bring the family. They have all types of fresh seafood there. The prices are great. They even have a kids menu and food hot dogs and burgers if thats what you like. There is lots of outside seating and you can watch the boats. Walk across the street to the sandy beach and take a walk. its a great place to go and relaxing. The food prices are great and not too esp.

I live in New York now but whenever I head back home to CT I always make it a point to hit Duffy's.
They have it all. Great tavern, yet excellent dining. The food at Duffy's is amazing and always fresh and cooked to perfection.
I highly recommend Duffy's Tavern for your next night out. Whether it's a evening with the pals, a family dinner or a date, Duffy's will treat you like a king and/or queen.

Oyster river Tavern is a small pub style restaurant located across from the beach in the Baybrook section of West Haven near the Milford town line. It is located in a small strip mall with ample parking . I have been frequenting this place since it opened approxmatley 10 years ago. I highly recommend all of the fried and grilled seafood dishes. The freshness and quantity is worth the crowded conditions and sometimes hurried service.

Not only does Stowe's serve up the freshest and tastiest seafood in West
Haven,but the people who work there are friendly and very helpful
with suggestions on what to order and how to cook fresh seafood at
home. Lobster rolls are just delicious with big chunks of lobster and
dripping savory butter,clam strips are tender and sweet and the soft
shell crab while in season is crispy on the outside and absolutely
divine. Dont forgot to try the clam chowder and lobster bisque both are
truly the best I've tasted creamy and flavorful loaded with seafood.
And the guys that work there are pretty HOT too

The food was prompt, service was friendly, and the staff was accomidating....They ran out of a lot of food such as Mussels and Ribs,,,,which was was looking forward to....someone should keep on top of that !! but overall....the experience was great! Keep up the good work... i'm sure to be back again!!
