My last time at Woodlawn was about 5 years ago, I would rate that time as OK. What a difference a few years made! We attended a childs birthday party there last week, the kids absolutely loved it! I came to speaking with Bob, the owner, he bought the business a coupe years ago. The facility does not look the prettiest from the outside, but inside was great, looks like Bob re-did the place recently. Kids were served real pizza(pretty good!) and the snack bar had just about all you would like.
While there for the kids party, my wife booked my 40th birthday party for a Saturday night, we are renting out the whole place.
A great place for kids or adults, give it a try!!!

We took our 7 and 5 year olds there. Fun. The owner even turned on the disco lights.

I find it harder and harder to find duckpin bowling in the New Haven area, but Woodlawn is the same as it was when I was a kid. It sort of feels like a family place in some 1950's "Happy Days" sort of place, with a limited food bar of the standards, and vending machines with some candy type snacks. This is a real hole in the wall, but I am surprised how it appears bigger inside. I like that even little kids can bowl here, and I suppose seniors or those with back problems might prefer duckpin. It was more expensive than I remembered, but so is going to the movies or doing anything else. Nice to occupy a kid for the afternoon, and its not crowded during the day.

Go back to your childhood and remember duckpin bowling. The little balls that you can throw with one hand or push between your legs. Thats what Woodlawn is. Take even the littlest of kids and they can roll those balls down the tiny pins. This is a great place to take the family on a rainy afternoon. Dont expect too much but if you like greasy food from the snack bar and some old fashioned fun, this is the place for you.
