New Haven County Cutters replaced the former New Haven Ravens a few year ago when the Ravens left the Greater New Haven Area.
The stadium is in definitely need of repair or just updating. Other local teams in the area have brand new stadiums, and it's sad that Yale Field (i.e. Yale University) lets their "Yale Historic Field" go to such shambles. As of this post, even the water fountains were not operable (they are literally broken into pieces). Yale should be ashamed to have their "historic" site look this way.
Parking is a breeze and is located in an upper and lower level lot. The food is typical stadium food (hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, etc.) and also has some good BBQ food located in Joe Grate's BBQ area.
Food can be a bit pricey, but money is saved with low cost admission.
They have frequent specials for admission and food, so call or check their web site for details.
This is a great attraction for families and children who don't want to go to the usual museum or movie theatres.

Oyster river Tavern is a small pub style restaurant located across from the beach in the Baybrook section of West Haven near the Milford town line. It is located in a small strip mall with ample parking . I have been frequenting this place since it opened approxmatley 10 years ago. I highly recommend all of the fried and grilled seafood dishes. The freshness and quantity is worth the crowded conditions and sometimes hurried service.

Having used Tim's Auto Center for my repairs for the past 15 years I feel I am qualified to give an impartial review of the business. Tim Collins is the owner of this establihment and is known for his fair prices as well as his attention to detail. Tim and his mechanics offer most any auto repair imaginable as well as towing and CT emissions testing. It is also a full service gas station as well. My only complaint would be that it is a very busy place and appointments should be made well in advance.

This seafood placeisnot by the water but the food os ok. the prices seem to be a bit higher than some of the other places.this is more a quick bight to eat placewith a large selection. I dont recomment it if you are very hungry as they dont give you a big portion of food for the money you pay. I wouldnt recomment this for a date!

I guess it's the same with any small theatre, they play second run movies, their screens are smaller, but their prices are great (especially when movies are 9 dollars a person nowadays) not crowded, and it has some character. If you want to see this summer's big blockbuster, by all means go to the neighberhood multiplex, spend over 20$ for you and your date and sit in a crowded room (but it's true, there is surround sound). But if you want to watch an old classic, or it's a movie you can wait to see, go down the the little theatre where the night will be a lot more memorable.

If you want a huge superstore to fix your car, look elsewhere.
Anchor Motors is a little shop on the corner of Spring & Front Streets in West Haven (on the New Haven border). It's lot of cars isn't the cleanest or most organized.
It's simply a terrific place to get your car fixed. Juan and Mike, both of the mechanics that work there, have been there for years. Juan is terrific. He can literally tell you what's wrong with your car by listening to it. I've brought 3 cars there over the years, and Juan has fixed them in minutes.
Their prices are comparable, but on the inexpensive side. If it's a quick diagnosis/fix, they often won't even charge you full price. Try to get that at another service place!
Trust me.. If your car is broken, bring it here. You won't be sorry. Their demand is high, so you may not be able to get your car for a day or two, but it will be fixed the right way. And, they won't charge you for parts and services that you won't need.

Metro Taxi is Greater New Haven's taxi service. They have a large fleet of taxi's and probably the most popular. Their motto "All you need is 7" is fitting as their phone number is all 7's.
Most of the taxi's are relatively new and they seem to change their fleet as needed. The reputation of the taxi driver driving recklessly is still valid. You'll often see them drive around like they were in New York.
They are easily identified by their orange and white striping on their Ford Crown Victoria cars. They take advanced reservations as well and will call to remind you of a scheduled pick up. They do not offer shuttle/van service.

If you want some sports memorabilia or to get some items personalized, Vio's offers a great service.
They embroider a lot of local agencies uniforms and pay special attention to detail.
They aren't cheap or expensive, but rather down the middle as far as price goes. They aren't a big shop, so don't expect a quick turnaround. It may take a week or two, but the results are great.
They specialize in Sports gear, and have a wide selection of their for sale items on display. They do all their work on premises and usually have a two week turnaround time.

As most pet stores, it's small and prices are obviously higher than national chains. So it's important with small private pet stores to focus on the greater quality of care that they could provide. They have a nice reptile/amphibian section and not knowing too much about those, I would have to say they look pretty good. The fish section is so so, nothing spectacular or incredibly rare. The care is minimal and the order species that will not survive (dyed fish). That's a big no no. Very unethical.

It's depressing to go to a shelter when you see so many dogs & cats that need homes. The West Haven shelter is a bit different. There's always a dog or cat that needs adoption, but they are very helpful in getting you the proper pet that you need.
You may ask to see pictures ahead of time, so you don't have to feel bad when looking through the many pets they have looking for homes. In addition, there isn't a huge delay from the time you wish to adopt to the time you take your new friend home, like with other shelters.
This place is also clean and very well staffed. The staff doesn't just do their job for the money, they really care about the animals that they place. This place is great!
