I shopped at Puritan Furniture this evening for a new living room set and early today I had purchased a bedroom set from Puritan Juvenile in Rocky Hill. I was very pleased with the wide selection that each store had to offer. In addition to the selection the prices were extremely competitive with neighboring stores. I am very pleased with the service, selection and prices and now i understand why. Each store is family owned for over 70 years and pride themselves on keeping their customers happy.

Today I had the most awful customer service experience of my life. At 6:30 pm my boyfriend and I were approached by a woman that introduced herself as the owners wife and told that unless we were ready to purchase something we'd have to leave because it was closing time...keep in mind that the posted closing hour was 7pm! When we questioned her she said that the store only stays open if there are paying customers in the store! then she told us that we shouldn't be considering the bed that we were interested in because it was too expensive for us...yet we had never given her the amount that we were looking to spend. just because we are young she assumed that we couldn't afford an expensive piece of furniture! She even suggested that we go to Bob's Discount Furniture where there were things that were more in our price range! Once we informed her that we've bought from Puritan in the past she changed her attitude and told us that she was sorry and that we could stay...but in our eyes the damage had already been done. I will NEVER again shop at a store that treats their customers like that and discriminates against them and neither should you!!

We all work hard for our money, that's why when we go somewhere to spend thousands of dollars we expect to be treated well. Someone should tell this to the people at Puritan. Our salesperson was ok, but the experience after that went sour quickly. We were willing to put up with a 2 month wait for furniture, but when the date came and went we started asking questions. Turns out parts of the order were never placed. Then the delivery truck came 20 minutes BEFORE the scheduled time and left. Throughout the whole ordeal we were treated like 2nd class citizens. We canceled our order, ate the $70 delivery fee and went to Pilgrim. Couldn't have been happier. Your money is too good for these people.

If you are looking for every type of furniture under one roof, Puritan is the place to go. It can almost be overwhelming to see all of the choices. Make sure you go with some thoughts in mind so you can quickly bypass that which is not on your list. Be prepared for shark like salespeople as they work on commission. Once you have a sales person attached to you, they tend to be very helpful and very attentative. Prices are in all ranges just like the styles. We have bought several pieces and have been happy with the quality and the price and delivery.
