I am ashamed to admit that I bought a dog from these people. All you have to do is spend a little bit of time in there and you see the staff giving every dog medication, yet they expect top $ for the animals. My dog was sooooooo sick. Spent days in the hospital and I was not able to use my own vet. This may be how they keep the complaints down. I can't stand that this place stays in business. Whenever anyone asks me where I got my dog I reply that he was a rescue because that is how I feel. He would not have made it if it were not for me. I also notice that there are some larger dogs kept in back room - makes you wonder just what they do with dogs that they can not sell.

I bought a an american budgie from here a month ago. He is ok--his first vet. appointment is next week--; but the other birds I saw today looked horrible. I'm disgusted with the poor care their birds get. One bird was clearly sick today. When a bird appears sick, it needs help; they don't show symptoms until they can't hide it anymore.
Betta fish do not belong in small containers on the sides of the fish tanks. Many are sick or are already dead.
A lot of renovation is being done, but the care of the animals needs to be better. It's cruel, and makes me want to save all the birds they have.
I've been asking about where animals came from, but no one is giving me information, which makes me suspicious.
The animals that are at this establishment need better care!

First of all the Puppy Center and Aquarium outside has been fully refaced along with the whole strip mall. They now have a nice big sign and spacious parking lot with easy access from the road. Inside they look as though they are currently renovating. They have a huge selection of fresh water fish and large selection of salt water fish, creatures, live rock, coral etc... The puppies look very happy and are in very large rooms. The smell was a bit strong but honestly the pens were pretty clean.
Follow up: I've since been shopping at this store and had the chance to speak to numerous staff members. All were very helpful. Ron and Nick specifically really knew their stuff about african's. They helped me get my aquarium setup and our fish are doing spectacular. I'm going back today for more fish. Oh and Ron had the opportunity to go over their renovations and aside from the general huge expansion he's also installing a state of the art ventilation system for the puppy center and the whole section will be a self contained area. Great job. Highly recommend this place. The nay sayers are either old reviews or are sorely mistaken.

Though they keep the puppies in large enclosures with other dogs to keep them company, the state of some of the puppies really worries me. Many of the dogs that I have looked at have been underweight, and like Kim S. I also have seen the dogs eating the feces that littered the floor. It also bothers me that many of the dogs (though different breeds) come from the same breeder. I remember on one occasion there were at least 7 different breeds that all came from the same breeder. I could not help but think that most of these dogs were from puppy mills, I don't know of any respectable breeder who would breed 7 different breeds.

After a long awaited field trip with my students, we were overwhelmed by the odor as we entered the store. Even more disturbing the staff was giving all of the dogs meds as they had just opened, not something that any dog owner ever wanted to see. As we were leaving one child noticed a group of dogs in the big glass enclosures eating the feces of another dog. I would never buy any dog or anything else from this store after seeing these poor animals; especially when they are asking for $2200.00 for some dogs. And they will be going home sick. I am glad I rescued my American Pit Bull from the pound. At least she was healthy when I brought her home for $50.

When I bought my puppy from the Puppy Center he had a slight case of bronchitis. They agreed to pay for his month or so of medications and the vaccines he received after he was better because he should have received them when he was sick. They saved me hundreds of dollars on medications and weekly appointments to have his condition checked because they didn't want me to take home a sick puppy. Also, don't be afraid if the puppy doesn't act playful at the store a day after he/she comes home it will be a happy playful puppy.

We could not believe the injustice the person who supposedly owns a "fido" did to the best pet-oriented store in our area. They wrote rubbish and obviously know nothing of dogs. We've been regularly going to this store since it opened (possibly over 20 years, I don't know). We never seen anything but the best possible care to any and all animals. We currently own 55 gal saltwater tank (have for 24 years). We now have 2 pedigreed American Bulldogs with champion bloodlines and have a litter we're "hoping" the Puppy Center will accept since they only take the best. We also have a male Himilayan Persian Cat and routinely throughout the winter feed wild birds to the tune of 15+ birdhouses & multi feeders in our CT yard. Can they say that? Oh, almost forgot the time the Puppy Center purchased one of our old Porcupine Puffer fish for a retail price to help us out since he was creating havoc in our tank. Hopefully our blog can help undo some of this PR damage!

I have to agree with Christina. The puppies get to play all day long with other puppies and aren't cooped up in cages. I've also seen the employees talking to perspective pet owner and steer them clear of a dog that may not fit their live style. For instance, this woman was looking at a Chihuahua and the employee told her that might not be the best breed because of the small children she had. She didn't want the puppy to get hurt with a child that may not know better than to hug a puppy tight. Another instance they told a person that was looking a puppy that was going to be a very, very large dog a small apartment might not be the best place, but since they were looking for a house when they got the house to come back and see him he could get that breed for them. I think this is being very responsible.
They have a huge Fish Department and the employees working in the department are also very well versed with fish.
Oh another thing the Owner is usually there 6 to 7 days a week helping out with advice and what not. He is a really good guy.

I walked in expecting to buy a doggie toy for my fido ,instead i walked in to a nauseating smell instead. One of the filthiest petstores i have ever walked into. This business is just passing off puppy mill dogs as expensive dogs bred from legitamate breeders.Knowing dogs as well as i do ,i saw very poorly bred examples of dogs ,and most of them looking very sickly.I walked in and walked out,I would never do business withy a store like this.

Most puppies are crammed into small cages and left to sit on wire mesh all day and never get to come out to play. The puppies at the puppy center are much more fortunate. Here they have 4 or 5 large glass air conditioned rooms that have the entire floor covered with mounds of shredded paper. The puppies are sorted by size in the rooms and they have lots of room to run around, interact with other dogs, play, sleep on soft bedding. It's really a huge improvement over wire cages. I can't say anything of where they get the dogs from (puppy mills, private breeders) but if they take this good care of them while they have them, hopefully they buy from good reputable breeders. Oh yea, they have a great fish section as well.
