I was having a hard time convincing my now former Hairstylist to color my Hair the way I wanted it. The color just never stayed on, It was literally gone after 3 days. We found Jimmy on line, read the reviews and called him up. I liked what I heard , and so we made an appointment for a consultation and walked away feeling really positive about the experience. So a couple of days later it was time for the new color. I am a fantastic red head now. The color stayed on, it shines and Jimmy also gave me a great cut that goes with my face. We just saw him for a Touch up and he was efficient, quick and accurate. If you are looking for a supremely talented Colorist he is the Man for you. He looks at you and just knows what is right for you and believe me follow His advice you wont be disappointed. We are both very happy that we found him: my wife just had her hair cut by him and she loves her cut very much. Pros: everthing Cons: NOTHING

I'd lived in the Boston area for 7 years before I finally decided it was time to get my hair done here rather than having my bi-annual highlights done by my old stylist in Florida. I originally went to Newbury St and got a fine color job but it was boring. I searched Citysearch and found Jimi's website and was excited to find someone who did such close blonde highlights. I went to Jimi who is immediately your friend and just told him to do whatever he thought was best. I have a shoulder length choppy haircut and am naturally dark blonde. He gave me perfect blonde highlights that complemented my cut! He also said I'd only need to get them done two, maybe three, times a year and he's right! I will always go to Jimi for my highlights! I also appreciated that he loves my haircut and told me to stick with my stylist (at another salon!). That honesty and professionalism is not easy to find and is just another fantastic reason for you to try Jimi! Thanks Jimi! Pros: Beautiful and lasting highlights, fast and friendly

I tried to highlight my hair with a hair color from CVS - terrible move. Jimi was able to see me the next day and corrected my new blond color so that my hair looks great - colored, but professional. Jimi was also very fast - he was able to see me within a day and had me in and out of his shop in less than ninety minutes. I would highly recommend. Pros: corrected my color, made it look great

Jimi is the best colorist I've ever been to! He knew exactly what to do when I came to him with an ill-advised home dye job that went horribly wrong! He got my hair to look exactly the way I wanted it and I get so many compliments on it now! He also doesn't charge you an arm and a leg. Better results than you get on Newbury Street and not nearly as expensive! He is a great guy who is an expert in hair color. I definitely recommend him to anyone who wants fabulous-looking hair! I started to go to Jimi when I heard everyone raving about his work. Once I met him, he reminded me of my stylist back home in Los Angeles. The hair cut I received was beautiful and the color amazing. It was a sure thing. Unfortunately, Jimi went through a transitional period while he set up his new salon. Although his talent was there, his attitude and professionalism suffered. He missed one of our appointments and was overwhelmed with clients the next time I saw him. Although he managed to cut three women's hair during the two hour period, I felt that I needed to move on.

My girlfriend has spent ...and wasted THOUSANDS of dollars at so called "Best of Boston" hair salons. We're talking places like Maksou, G20 (formerly Guiliano's), and Salon Fontana to name but a few. They all disappointed. We were going there for years, paying exorbitant prices, and always walked away feeling not only did the person do a terrible job...they couldn't care less who the client was. These places can always count on someone trusting the Improper Bostonian to be the gospel, and bring people through the doors. Then, one day we came across someone with amazing hair, and she recommend Jimi James to us. At first, my girl was cautious because for some reason, she equates quality with being located on Newbury St - yes, feel sorry for me. Still, with my persuasion, she gave Jimi a chance; she could not have been more pleased with the results. He was the FIRST person in over 3 years of us dating, to get her hair colored the way she wanted. Jimi remembers exactly the formula that each client needs for their hair, and never fails to deliver that Hollywood look. If you think this review is being written during the so called "honeymoon period", let me set things straight. My girl has been going to see Jimi once a month... for the last 3+ years! She never fails to miss an appointment. Before, she HATED going to the various colorists that you see written up in the "Improper Bostonian" (those guys have ZERO credibily when they give their best of Boston review; they have to please their advertisers, and so you will always see Maksou and other salons who heavily advertise, get #1 reviews). SCREW THAT! Now, my girl makes seeing Jimi a priority over me! However, I can't complain. All my boys think i'm lucky because of how good her hair looks, and I look like the man. Guys who are reading this - RUN, DON'T WALK to send your girl to Jimi James. This man is Boston's best kept secret! Just be ready for your girlfriend to be hit-on 24/7. You've been warned. The problem I found with going to Newbury years on end was that once your hairstylist figures out what you like, they stick with it. Well, I don't necessarily want to have the same hair or color all year round. Jimi fully understands it and helps me change my look - even a little bit - every time I see him. His level of skill is unquestionable, supported by years of experience. In addition, Jimi remembers each of his clients by name and all the little details about the clients' personal life. I have to tell you god's honest truth - every time I get a lot of complements on my hair. Another enjoyable part of the salon is that the clients there have fun socializing. Jimi just started the new salon so it is work in progress at the moment, can't wait to see when it's completed! I am sure it will be gorgeous. I highly recommend Jimi to all my friends.
