A friend took me to Acadiana for my birthday dinner and I absolutely loved it. Acadiana is owned by the same people as Ceiba, DC Coast and Tenpenh. Having eaten at 3 out of the 4, I can say that there are certain similarities between the menus (despite the very different cuisines, you can tell they buy food for all 4 restaurants together) and the pleasing decor. I like that at Acadiana you can sit in booths, which are a little more private. They also have these really cool looking semi-circular banquettes with high backs at some of the larger round tables. We went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was pretty full, mostly people who clearly had just come from work.
Onto the food...if you don't like seafood, your options will be somewhat limited (out of 10 entree choices, 6 are seafood.) As my friend doesn't eat seafood, her appetizer options were limited to either a beet salad or a sausage gumbo (she also doesn't pork, so that pretty much decided that). I'm not a fan of beets, but the salad came and it looked like a regular green salad but with a bright red beet sauce, which was actually a very thinly sliced beet. It was like a beet fruit roll-up! She really liked it. I ordered the trio of "pies", which were like flaky empanadas filled with beef, crayfish or vegetables, all on the spicier side, which came with a little bowl of mild buttermilk dipping sauce. The pies alone are worth a visit here.
My friend ordered the glazed duck, which was a huge portion, served with rice and some green vegetables. I ordered the jumbo lump crabcakes and we also split an order of the buttermilk mashed potatos (did I mention this is definitely NOT the place to go if you are counting calories?!) I love crabcakes and these ones were quite good--almost all crab meat with none of the breaded filler that can take away from good crab. It came with a very light sauce with bits of corn and beans. We ended up ordering a bottle of wine, but I was surprised to see a number of wines offered by the glass.
Service was average, but honestly didn't matter to us very much. The atmosphere is very cozy and it's easy to tune out all the things going on beyond your table. If you go, ask for one of the booths that line the windows. You get the added space and privacy and will put you at the opposite end of the bar. The total for the evening (I peaked at the bill) for two people who ate two appetizers, two entrees and shared a bottle of wine, was $140 pre-tip. Not cheap, but for a special occasion, I would definitely recommend.

Authentic chinese cuisine at a great price. I absolutely love their juicy dumplings and homemade noodles. You can't find a lot of places that offer authentic cuisine like this. According to reviews, their specialties include house special chicken, roasted whole pig, their dumplings, lai mein soup, and their lobster stir fry with ginger and scallions. If you are in DC and haven't tried this restaurant, get on the next subway to Chinatown for your next meal.

Asia Nora is amazing. If you book a night at Asia Nora be prepared for a special culinary experience. Especially if you like Asian food. There are some very heavy Japanese influences, but this is not someplace to go to get sushi. The style is very eclectic Asian with sauces and fusions abound. The tuna is dreamy. The atmosphere is very romantic and tranquil and a great place to spend a Saturday - or any - night.

The American Art Museum is a huge museum that has two seperate buildings that are connected with an underground walkway. This museum will take the whole day if you want to see everything. There are many types of art and they are all amazing. When you first walk into the museum you come into a large marble foyer that is beautiful. Each area of the museum has a different feel and makes the experience even better.

Whether you eat in or call for carry out, the quality of the food (and taste) is great. I've tried various items on the menu and have yet to be disappointed! They have a nice selection of mixed drinks and also have very nice Thai beers.
It's a great addition to the neighborhood!

I didn't give this five stars because although the museum is unique, the subject matter is a little bland. This museum takes up an entire city block near Judiciary Square. Once inside you'll find open spaces with differing architectural presentations to dazzle the eye. Technically, the museum is free, but a small $5 donation is strongly encouraged. Because it's such a departure from the stuffy Smithsonians nearby on the mall, the place is becoming the favorite museum of my friends and me. Particularly of interest is the record-number of Roman columns supporting the building's infrasturcture. It's almost like a city within a city.

The Marriott Wardman is a classy hotel with tons of amenities. The location is good, near the Woodley Park Zoo and just a short subway ride away from all of DC's attractions and shopping (the subway stop is right in front of the hotel). The staff is polite and helpful. The hotel contains a Starbucks, a jewelry store, and has a couple good in-house restaurants. It's also proximate to some good local restaurants.

I love heritage India! The atmosphere is exotic and classy. The service is attentive but not overbearing. The food! I love their chili paneer masala (they don’t have it on the menu but will make it if you ask). It is so delicious—as well as any of their other vegetarian dishes! I haven’t tried the street food yet. I would recommend against the mango lassis, though, which are almost 4.50 and taste kind of strange.

More
Washington National Cathedral has a full and active membership that busies itself with various social justice activities. But remembering that this is a church can be a bit difficult, with so much going on. For those of us who aren't members, it feels more like an experience. The cathedral is on the order of St. Patrick's in New York City or Westminster Abbey in London. It has a long and interesting history, it's huge and tours are available. If you're going to attend services on a holiday, you'll probably have to wait on line outside and you might wind up in a hard wooden chair near the back, behind a pillar. (except for New Year's Day, when the service is small and abbreviated). The tours are interesting, particularly the stories behind all the various chapels. Some are lavish. One holds no more than eight people! There is a gift shop with religiously themed objects -- CDs, cards, books, Bibles - of course -- decorations, and there also is a small cafe as well as a greenhouse. Parking always seems to be adequate on the grounds or on the street in the surrounding neighborhood.

This is the best place to go view a sporting event. The sound system is great and so is the score board. Even if your seats are bad, you won't feel like you had a crappy night.
They have student specials on Wednesday nights. The arena is huge, so you should always be able to get tickets.
