Happy Cleaners has a very cheeful name which brings a smile to my lips but this is generally a very ordinary store. They do all basic drycleaning and usually have fairly quick turn around on basic items like shirts and slacks. The prices are reasonable but everything costs a bit more than I would like in this pricey area of DC. A good place to go for basic services.

I have never had any problems with this taxi company. The driver usually knows the area very well and all the cabs I have been in are kept very clean. They don’t arrive as quickly as some other cab companies but they always arrive when they say they will. Give them a try if you live in DC.

Al Tiramisu somehow manages to be a neighborhood restaurant even while catering to a varied crowd. The food is solidly authentic, with homemade pastas that are worth trying. Make sure you ask the price of the daily specials, though, as the servers frequently don't mention them, and you might be in for a shock otherwise. The wine list is a bit pricey but it's well-thought out.

This is a great place if you are looking for a quality burger and fries fast. You won’t be getting a gourmet burger but it is very reasonably priced and it tastes great. The ordering process could be a little more efficient but in the end it is sometimes worth the hassle.

Hardly missing a beat from where its next door neighbor Go Mama Go leaves off, Pulp adds its own distinctive flavor to the trendy block of 14th street between T and U. Whereas Go Mama Go features larger gifts and home furnishings, Pulp offers smaller gifts and trinkets to accent your home. The prices are expensive, but the items are tasteful so you're not wasting your money on gaudy junk. They also have a selection of clothing similar to Muleh down the street.

This is a nice little option on 18th Street in DC. I have found some great cell phone accessories here. The prices here are a lot better than the major stores like Sprint and Verizon. The staff here is great and the lines are never long. I’m a big fan of Wireless Link.

This salon does a good job, but I feel rushed by the staff trying to hurry in as many customers as possible. Once I was so rushed that a nail bumped and the polish marred, but I felt bad saying anything because my manicurist had already moved on to another customer...

I'm a fan of convenience stores, not for their food but whole kitch of them. This 7-11 isn't much different from the other 10 zillion others, except for the tiny parking lot (a rarity in DC). You can whip in, park, buy, and get out again fast. This location is amazingly clean too! Don't mind the guys hanging out in the front. They're loud and chatty but totally harmless. Just say "hi" as you walk past.

Swift Cleaners has been in business for quite some time, so they must have some satisfied customers. I much prefer the DC Dry Cleaners on Columbia Road, and I'd probably recommend trying other places in the neighborhood before going to swift. On at least two occasions, I had to return my garments because they either didn't get my stains all the way out, or they had actually made stains of their own during the dry cleaning process.

This is a great museum behind Union Station and my kids thought it was a lot fun. There are two other larger exhibits that had culture. In the Mexico exhibit, the kids can see how to make hot chocolate and make crafts along with climbing a pyramid. In the Japanese exhibit there was kimonos and a shipping district and there was a Japanese classroom. However, my kids loved the puppet room, because there was hand puppets and there were rocking chairs for parents to sit on. I believe it was there a low fee for children but overall it's a great experience for kids.
