I'm a big fan. I think they make the best pita in town. This place makes some great food. Pik a Pita is located on Massachusetts Ave, Northeast DC. The people here are very friendly. If you don't know what to order just ask someone. Everything is great so whatever they recommend will satisfy your taste.

Voorthuis Optical may have a bit of a strange-sounding name but the eyeglass frames featured in their window are clean cut and classic. They sell many different designs and you can expect a bit of a higher class selection here than you might find at a mass retailer like Lenscrafters. The prices are correspondingly a bit higher too, but given that glasses are something you wear everyday it is good to get a pair you really like.

I had a good meal at Baja Fresh. It's mexican fast food, but not the gross "Taco Bell" kind. You place your order and then are given a pager that buzzes when your food is ready. I had the chicken soft taco which was hot and well cooked (but still moist). There is a toppings bar where you can add all the spice or salsa you want. If you need a fast meal but don't to feel guilty for eating it, Baja Fresh is a good choice. You'll find a mix of business professionals, students from the nearby university and tourists. It was quiet at dinner time when all the biz people are gone, but I imagine there's a bit of a wait for lunch. Enjoy!

A delivery service of fresh vegetables and fruits.
The idea is great, but the prices are very high at $28 for a small box of vegetables and fruits.
They also are in dire need of updating their payment system. Currently, it's a confusing mess of emails you have to send, with a very high likelihood that they will make a mistake.
Once they can fix that kink in their system, I think it will run more smoothly.
They send out a nice email every Monday with their list of veggies and fruits, so that you can choose whether or not to order from them that week.
For the three orders I received from them, each time the veggies and fruits were in superb condition -- even better than what I could get at a supermarket.
Their emails even include a newsletter full of recipes. Most of the time these recipes don't correspond to the vegetables and fruits you'll be receiving, which seems strange.

Nestled right next to the Chinatown Marketplace Gallery metro station, and with two Chinese characters translating to "front and back" you will find the multi-colored themed restaurant Zengo serving Pan Asian and Latin fusion cuisine. The concept sounds enticing and foreign and my best friend and I sought to find out whether this type of fusion cuisine was a "go" or "no go". We ordered several of the fusion sushi rolls containing tuna and yellowtail. The rice on the rolls had an interesting texture and taste and although I have had better fusion rolls, it wasn't bad. However, the wonton tacos and the empanadas were much tastier! The wonton tacos were made of bite sized pieces of tuna and guacamole tucked into a mini rice filled wonton-taco shell. The empanadas were made of shredded pork and topped with a mango chutney. Their fusion mojitos also sounded interesting and looked delightful as well. The trendy ambiance and nicely decorated space makes for a great place for friends or a dinner rendezvous before a night out on the town! On a whole, I would say it's a Zen"GO"!

Solar Cafe is located next to McPherson Square Park. They offer hot and cold sandwiches and small and large salads. I would not recommend the cold sandwiches---they are made much earlier in the day and mine was cold and slimey. The grilled sandwiches and wraps are a better choice--they, too, are made earlier but grilling them makes a huge difference. The salads base of lettuce, spinach or mixed greens are pre-made, then you select the toppings and dressing. The small salad, total cost of $3.25 including tax, comes with a piece of french bread--very good bargain lunch. Solar Cafe also says it participates in the U Promise program, but I have yet to see my U Promise contribution from them.

This park is NOT in the best part of town. It's along the Anacostia River, which is unfortunately rather polluted. This is, however, a very cool place to see lotus flowers of all types. There are some nice boardwalk paths and some more rugged paths. It's still basically a wetlands, so beware the bugs. The nice thing is that this park is hardly ever crowded and can be rather educational for the kids.

Polo India Club Restaurant has wonderful food. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The service is sometimes slow which is bothersome if you are dining with impatient people or are in a rush. My favorite dishes are the Chicken Tika, Beef Curry, and Lamb Vandalu. I’ve never had a bad bite of food here. Try everything if you love this type of cuisine, it is worth the wait.
