I first started going to Zorba's Cafe back in the 80's while in college. Came back to DC about 5 years later and have been eating at Zorba's ever since. Great authentic meals...wish I had a Zorba's in my hometown when growing up. The prices are low, especially for the area it's in, and they pay attention to what I call real ingredients instead of out-of-a-box stuff like a lot of other places. I go there about 3 times a week. I call it my kitchen away from home. They catered an office party for us in December and everyone loved it.

The Oxford Tavern (lovingly known as the "Zoo Bar" to those who frequent it due to the proximity to the National Zoo) is a great neighborhood bar with a great atmosphere and pretty good food!
The bar is small and cozy and a great place to see bands. There is an AWESOME blues band that plays the 2nd Friday of every month (Sookey Jump). Be sure to get there early - the place can get pretty packed!
The only downfall is the parking - it is park on the street or ride the Metro. If you drive and get there later, finding a place to park can be a real bear.
If you are looking for a more mature crowd (NOT old, but NOT college - more like 30s-40s), a great atmosphere, some good food & awesome bands - this place is for you!
Pros: intimate, good atmosphere, great bands

My husband and I just celebrated our 5th anniversary here and were pleasantly surprised. They have a special from 5 - 7 PM for $30 a person that includes 3 courses. Not a bad deal. The food was delicious and apparently the chef does not let anything leave the kitchen without his approval. Check out the appetizer and dessert fondue.
We also were told by our waitress that this is a big scene for local celebrities like the Chief Justice, Liz Crenshaw, and Bob Ryan. We saw one while we were there. We also asked our waitress for a tour of the place and saw some neat "spy things."
Lastly, because it was our anniversary, we were seated in the back of the restaurant near the revolving door. This is where the celebrities sit too so ask for the back room. Valet is about $8.

Zips has saved me SO much money on my dry cleaning bills. Spending $5-7 per garment just isn't an option when you don't have much cash in your paychecks.
Zips does a great job and only charges $1.75 per piece. I just moved, but I'll take the metro two extra stops just to keep using Zips!

Nestled right next to the Chinatown Marketplace Gallery metro station, and with two Chinese characters translating to "front and back" you will find the multi-colored themed restaurant Zengo serving Pan Asian and Latin fusion cuisine. The concept sounds enticing and foreign and my best friend and I sought to find out whether this type of fusion cuisine was a "go" or "no go". We ordered several of the fusion sushi rolls containing tuna and yellowtail. The rice on the rolls had an interesting texture and taste and although I have had better fusion rolls, it wasn't bad. However, the wonton tacos and the empanadas were much tastier! The wonton tacos were made of bite sized pieces of tuna and guacamole tucked into a mini rice filled wonton-taco shell. The empanadas were made of shredded pork and topped with a mango chutney. Their fusion mojitos also sounded interesting and looked delightful as well. The trendy ambiance and nicely decorated space makes for a great place for friends or a dinner rendezvous before a night out on the town! On a whole, I would say it's a Zen"GO"!

Georgetown is a great place when you are looking for all different types of ethnic fare. And Zeds Ethiopian Cuisine does not disappoint. When my sister-in-law told me about this place she said that she heard nothing but rave reviews. So, the next night my husband and I went to check it out. I didnt have high expectations because I thought the food would be spicy (My stomach cant take spicy foods). But lo and behold this is one of my new favorite dinning spots! The food is flavorful and different, not overwhelmingly spicy. And the prices are reasonable.
But you may want to leave some of your American manners at the door because utensils are not used in Zeds. Instead, they offer you Ethiopian flatbread to scoop up the scrumptious dishes served family-style. Hey, if the Ethiopian embassy says its good along with a score of political figures, the food must certainly be all that!
PROS: Polite service, family-run business
