This food is real! Always very fresh and perfectly seasoned. From the minute you walk in the door, and are greeted by William to the time you eat and Chef Ignazio does his dining room rounds to make sure the food was perfect, the experience is amazing. There is always nice Italian background music on and you can wander over to the beautiful well stocked bar after your dinner for a nice snifter. Your trip to Tesoro will truly be memorable, it was for me. All I think about is the Pesto Sauce it melts in your mouth.

This is not just one museum, but several under one name. When visiting DC, make sure you visit these museums. There is the natural history museum, the art museum, air and space musuem...I can't remember all of them, but it is awesome. I love the museum with all the cool fossils, dinosaurs, rocks, etc. You could easily spend several days going through these museums. I think they are all free, but I'm not sure, since it has been a while since I've been here. Don't miss the zoo also, it is free!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Washington, DC. It's a tiny storefront in DC's Chinatown neighborhood, but don't let the size of this place fool you into thinking it's a minor player. They serve all sorts of Texas style BBQ: smoked beef brisket, pulled pork and chicken, ribs, and and even vegetarian tacos. The prices are extremely reasonable (about $6 for a sandwich) and the food is so good that we actually had them cater our wedding. A little untraditional perhaps, but our guests just raved about the food. So pay a visit to Capital Q for a delicious and affordable meal.

If you're in DC needing a hip place for dinner with good food and excellent service, recently I've been a big fan of IndeBleu.
It's Indian-French fusion, decor is straight out of a W Hotel, and the staff were brought in from European charm schools.
Outstanding, though a bit pricey. The biggest driver of cost is that the menu is set up as four courses. I keep it affordable by ordering a couple of second courses, using one as my main.
Bar is very cool, too, drink menu is a metro map.

We used Phyllis Alexander and her team when we were looking for homes in the Washington DC area earlier this year. From the very beginning when she took us on as a client she was the utmost professional, punctual and knew the market well. She patiently showed us homes that were almost right and after only several weeks she found the one that was exactly right. She then took us through the inspection and bidding process to make sure we won the house in a then very competitive market. I strongly recommend Phyllis and the Alexander & Associates team if you are serious about purchasing a home.

Paul Lagana is wonderful to work with. We did custom wedding invitations and he was extremely helpful with making our design a reality and offering suggestions to help us save money. I then used him later for a work-related job and had more great results - even on short notice! His color work is fabulous and his paper recommendations are right on for the job and look you want your printed peice to have.

As someone who just went through the process of building a new home, I have the utmost of respect for architects. However, I discovered during the process that stock house plans can offer the same level of detail and design as an architect. Just food for thought... http://www.dreamhomesource.com.

The Marriott Wardman is a classy hotel with tons of amenities. The location is good, near the Woodley Park Zoo and just a short subway ride away from all of DC's attractions and shopping (the subway stop is right in front of the hotel). The staff is polite and helpful. The hotel contains a Starbucks, a jewelry store, and has a couple good in-house restaurants. It's also proximate to some good local restaurants.

More
Akwaaba is a bed and breakfast with an African-American theme in a wonderfully renovated rowhouse along the 16th Street corridor in Northwest DC. Monique Greenwood, who owns this Akwaaba (and others in New York, Cape May, NJ, and New Orleans) with her husband, was once an editor for Essence magazine, but now runs this successful business. Lots of polished wood and high ceilings, with rooms themed after African-American authors -- Zora Neale Hurston, Octavia Butler - or for special occasions. The atmosphere is cozy, elegant, comfortable and restful. I have been here for book readings and private parties, but have toured the guest rooms on two or three occasions, and can vouch for their cleanliness, style and comfort. Akwaaba, by the way, means "welcome" in one of the languages spoken in Ghana, in West Africa.
