Compared to the much-smaller Clyde's in Georgetown, the new addition to 7th Street in Chinatown is a themepark! It's 2 stories tall, with several huge dining rooms each with their own design scheme. Everything here is oversized, from the oil paintings of English hunting scenes that line the walls to the palm trees in another dining room.
The menu is extensive and offers all of the things you would expect from Clyde's, including some seasonal specials.
Another plus is the Clyde's on the Walk, the walk-in take out counter located at the side of the restaurant. I went there for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised at the food and the prices. I had a cup of Maryland crab soup and a nice-sized salad for $4!

If you are interesing in Japan, this is a great organization to join. They have social event, volunteer events, and educational classes. They volunteer at the Spring Blossom Festival. This is a good place to network for business, too. Joining is fairly cheap, for about $40 for an individual.

This has become one of my favorite spots in the whole city. The Park Hyatt Washington is in the West End, on 24th St. NW and M St. NW. An easy walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro. On Saturday and Sundays, the Tea Cellar offers afternoon tea with a $13 dessert buffet (pot of tea is separate).
What makes the Tea Cellar so special is that it offers a tea sommelier. Yes, you can even do tea tastings. The staff there are incredibly knowledgeable and will happily share as much as you want to hear about the various tea offerings (black, white, green, oolong, performance, etc.) Pots of tea range from $5 all the way to $300.
I think the space and presentation are lovely. It's very different from most hotel afternoon teas which I feel can be rather stuffy. The Tea Cellar is a very modern space, all light wood and glass, with soaring ceilings. I love sitting in one of the comfy chairs or couches near the window and people watching. Despite it's large size, I think the space is sectioned off nicely so it can be cozy or open as you prefer. I've been there with just one other friend, but I also had a birthday party of 15 there as well, and both worked equally well.
The dessert buffet has an edited assortment of offerings--alas, no petit fours or devonshire cream here--but they do offer little raisin scones with butter, chocolate torts, madeleine cookies, poppyseed cake, miniature chocolate chip and sugar cookies.

Normally when you are a captive audience you can be assured of high price and mediocre quality, hooray for the Kennedy Center because just the opposite is true here. The food is fabulous and the prices if not inexpensive are competitive.
This is a great place to get a before performance lunch or dinner or an afternoon tea. They have a very upscale salad bar and a great selection of coffees and teas.
We had lunch before our performance and then slipped back up to have tea and pastry and to walk around the outside deck which has some of the best views in Washington.

More
Under the direction of chef/owner Henry Mendoza, La Plaza serves traditional Mexican and Salvadorian cuisine in an atmosphere designed to make patrons feel "at home." And at home is what it feels like. Henry often personally visits each table throughout the night, and names of regular patrons are stenciled on the walls. La Plaza serves tasty Latin cuisine in a way that makes you almost think your Aunt Tia whipped it up for you. The staff is friendly and service prompt. Try the Yucca con chicharron. La Plaza is one of the only El Salvadoran restaurants I've found that makes it just right.

This café is the ideal place for politicos, wine lovers, food fanatics, book people, open mike poets, etc. FINALLY, a multicultural café that has - not next door - not across the street - but INSIDE it a radical bookstore. Not to mention gorgeous, classy decor, a full menu, sit down restaurant and bar, plus a separate room with a stage with a mural made by the owner, Andy Shallal (DC knows his other joints, including the popular Luna). Sip your Shiraz and listen to Cindy Sheehan. Great concept, and the lines are out the door. Late night food. I can't say enough good things.

More
Temperance Hall is a bar and restaurant in the Petworth neighborhood just a block from the Georgia Ave./Petworth Green line Metro stop. It has quickly (it opened in Jan. '06) become the "local" for Petworth residents. The food is American pub fare that some interesting twists. There are a number of options of vegetarians including excellent crispy eggplant and fontina cheese with fuji apple sandwiches. The draft beers feature a rotating selection of small, independent craft breweries from the States and abroad. Currently I enjoy the Wolavers Brown Ale and the German Kolsch (brought in especially for the World Cup this summer).
If you like Wonderland in Columbia Heights, give Temperance Hall a try. You may end up making it your local as well.

"My name is Brittany and I would like to say a few words about my experience with Reiki Master David Wright. I am 28 years old and I am in recovery from drugs and alcohol. David and I met through a mutual friend and after talking with him I decided to try a reiki treatment. I have to admit I was skeptical at first but at the same time I was very open to the possibility of the treatment helping bring me back into balance. I was very pleased with the way I felt physically, emotionally and spiritually after the first treatment but that was just the beginning. Over the years I have come to David seeking friendship and support, as well as reiki through my recovery and he always greets me with open arms. He has since moved away but we still keep in touch. Most times just having a conversation with him makes me feel like I just had a treatment. I have had Reiki treatments from other Reiki Masters and I have to say that though all of them have been helpfull, I have yet to experience such a powerful force of positive life giving energy as I experienced working with David. There is no doubt that he was put here for a very specific reason. To help others reach their full potential through the work that he does. Thank you for listening. Sincerely, Charlotte Brittany W."
