This quiet bookstore is a great place to get lost in the stacks. The books are well chosen, you won't find just anything here. The history & political science sections are strong, I've found good poetry here, and the fiction section does not disappoint. My favorite sections to browse are the gardening & home design walls and the Washington, DC section, which is very strong. The staff is very helpful and easy to talk to. They take trade ins of used books - take the store credit option, set up a tab and have a look around. Riverby will reward you each time.

I visited this bookstore on Capitol Hill late last year with a friend who is a big history aficionado. He is always looking for rare books about U.S. political icons from the past. During our last visit he was happy to find a book about former President Fillmore. If I’m not in a rush and know what topic I’m looking for I usually make my book purchases over the Internet but this place is perfect if you don’t mind paying an extra few dollars for a books that are morn focused on politics and history.

As one would expect from a bookstore on Capitol Hill, the selection at this outlet tends towards the political and historical. If you want to buy Hillary Clinton's latest biography (or her hubby's for that matter) you will find it here! The selection of political books is good, but for literature or other topics you might want to go elsewhere. Also, prices are a bit higher than at the huge chains.
