Secondi is a great place to find some elegant (for lack of a better word) clothes at incredibly affordable prices. The staff is nice and helpful, but they give you your space while you browse. And be sure to do plenty of browsing; there's tons of finds in here. That would be my only complaint: with so much to look through, you need to set aside a lot of time to enjoy it!

Urban Outfitters is a new thing to me. In FL, if you wanted something from UO, you had to order from the catalogue or the website, here in DC, I have two to choose from where I can go in and raid all the sale stuff! When they do have sales, they go crazy! last time I got 3 pairs of pants for 2.50$ each; the time before that, I paid less than 25$ and left with 4 bags full of books and household stuff.

Went to this store and just wanted to move in. I am from NYC and moving here it was great to find such a wonderful shoe store in my area. There are so many little fabulous things to look at and try on. And the staff is SOOOO helpful and patient--which did me in. The salesgirl was such a joy that I went in for flip flops and came out with 2 pairs of the same shoes in 2 different colors! I can't wait to go back. It is like a mini spa for shoppers!

As the whimsical name would suggest, Hats in the Belfry is a store of frills. They do indeed have hats, both true wear to church hats and winter woolen caps, but they also have sheer scarves, candleholders and hair combs and all sorts of fun and frilly accessories. The prices are pretty steep, but they have an annual sale every August which is well worth going to since prices are reduced by as much as 75%.

i came here on a whim to look for wedding dresses - and ended up finding the perfect dress! the saleswomen were by far the best of any bridal place i've been to before or since - knowledgeable but not pushy, kind and attentive, and really just genuinely concerned with the way i would look at my wedding. they have top class gowns, so this place is definitely not somewhere to go for discount shopping, but that being said, they really tried hard to work with my exploding budget and to offer ways to cut the eventual cost of the dress (shipping it to me, for instance, to avoid sales tax). i also got a hair thing here which looked phenomenal as well.

For the longest time I lived in Washington DC and never thought of stopping into a "hat" shop since I don't like wearing hats. A friend convinced me there was more to it when she bought me a beautiful, fun, brightly colored leather wallet here and it was from this that my love affair with the store began. This is the perfect shop to browse. They have a lot of fun items for all sorts of people, from babies to adults. The store is never cluttered and the stock is always fresh and unusual. A pleasure to have this store in the community. It's what DC needs more of!

This store has a nice selection of children's toys and clothing, ranging from newborn on up. They often have a nice selection of clothing on sale. They've also got some great children's books. The prices are on par with other children's toy and clothing stores, and the staff is friendly.
