One of the perks of a local dive bar is that it is in fact, local. You can walk or stumble home and back and the free world will be A-Okay. Unfortunately my dive bars usually requires me taking a cab... When I first heard fo My Brother's Place (Courtesy of my buddy Joe) I really thought he had a sibling that owned a bar. When I finally found the bar, it seemed like a mirage in an Arabian desert. I couldn't believe it! Back then it was $10 all you care to drink. Due to the rate of inflation and Bush politics, the Saturday night special is $12 all you care to drink...and let me tell you, my friends and I care a lot. The reason it falls to number four is because it's a Catholic Unitversity hang out...meaning the guys are meatheads and the chicks are usually under age sorority pledges getting hazed. It's also in the Capitol Hill area of town and hidden behind some sketchy ally. However, if you grab a bunch of your drinking buddies, this place is awesome. You'll see the occasional HIll staffer getting sauced in his suit and that group of friend playing flip cup. It's a pretty good time...assuming you can find this mythical bar...

For everything from $1 drafts to trivia nights to pool tables to juke boxes to intriguing locals, My Brother's Place is great for whatever type of mood you might be in. Without any trimmings except bar stools, tables, and chairs, some may call this place a dive, but I prefer to call it one of my favorite places in DC.
