I had the worst culinary experience of my life there (twice). The ambiance matches the food perfectly. Overcooked and flavorless food, spilled beer and slow service, overpriced for what it is; rowdy and drunk kids on the best nights...the most overrated place in town. Nice decor, patio, and great location are the only +s.
My thought is that this is probably one of the relics of the dot com era...my guess is that kids with a few bucks and no knowledge of the restaurant business must own this restaurant.
Don't go...waste of money and time!

This is a nice spot to catch a drink in DC. They also have a wonderful brunch but I mainly come here for the nightlife. The crowd here is always interesting. It is sometimes pretentious but any bar can be on any particular night. If you don’t like to deal with crowds on weekdays this place a very low key vibe.

What an amazing restaurant to come into a neighborhood that is up and coming. The bar is friendly and tables are hard to come by in this increasingly popular hot spot. The food is excellent, especially the Sunday Brunch. They also have special theme nights, highlighted by the ipod DJ night where guests are invited to play DJ for several songs. Come early and sign up for your chance to play DJ.

As one of the early U Street corridor gentrification-friendly restaurants, this bar / restaurant / downstairs lounge received lots of good press, including New York Times write-ups, and has suffered as a result. While the food and drinks remain good, the service can be chilly. Small but good selection of beer. Nice outside seating area. The downstairs lounge has some good music on weeknights; weekends tend toward the absurd.
