The place is really no frills but if you like sushi, and all about sushi then this is the place for you.

Sushi Taro is often referred to as the best sushi place in DC and while I like it, I think it's a bit overrated. There are plenty of great sushi places around and I'm not sure exactly what would distinguish this place so much besides all the talk.
Dining in is a bit cramped, but if you go a little early (like 6pm for dinner), it's fine. I prefer sitting at the sushi bar for direct service. They even have some traditional tables where you sit on the ground and remove your shoes.
The take-out is not so reliable. They often mess up orders and there's not a lot of room and time to make sure it's all there. The food definitely tastes better when dining in.
All in all, it's a good place, but I just don't get what all the hype is about.

Sushi Taro is one of my favorite sushi places in DC. The quality of the fish is very good, even if you pay a premium for it. It is also well designed—clean, spare, and bright. I would definitely consider it one of the best places to get sushi in the area—their seaweed salad is inventive, and I really liked their ikura sushi.
