Excellent Malaysian food! The ambiance at this restaurant was wonderful - perfect for a date or a swanky dinner with friends. They have $5 cuervo (and some other drinks) after 4PM! The food was excellent and the presentation was beautiful. There were only 2 drawbacks - rice is not included with the entrees, it has to be ordered on the side (I think it was only $1, but its the principal of it :o), and a dish I ordered slightly spicy came chock full of green chiles - it was hard to eat.
Overall a great restaurant, highly recommended.

Penang serves a three course lunch special for $9.95 with delightfully hearty portions, soup, and a choice of chicken satays, spring rolls or shrimp. The courses came quickly, with my bowl of soup almost beating me to the table. The servers were efficient at each stage of the meal, and present without being invasive. Outside seating at tables under large umbrellas was very comfortable and tucked into the Dupont Circle sidewalk traffic, yet removed enough from its frenetic pace to enjoy tasty Malaysian food.
