I've lived in Washington for 8 years and am on my third landlord. It may simply be because I'm living in a nicer building now than when I first moved here, but so far, Daro has been an excellent landlord. The building is clean and well cared for, they regularly schedule visits from pest control rather than waiting for complaints, and if you put in a maintenance request (whether small or large) the request is usually filled within 24 hours. I might just have good staff working in my building, but I'm assuming it comes from the top.

We used Phyllis Alexander and her team when we were looking for homes in the Washington DC area earlier this year. From the very beginning when she took us on as a client she was the utmost professional, punctual and knew the market well. She patiently showed us homes that were almost right and after only several weeks she found the one that was exactly right. She then took us through the inspection and bidding process to make sure we won the house in a then very competitive market. I strongly recommend Phyllis and the Alexander & Associates team if you are serious about purchasing a home.

After months of working with another realtor, we switched to John Parker under a friend’s recommendation and found our dream house in just a few weeks! John is a great guy, and works extremely hard for his clients (which is especially necessary in this ultra-tight DC market!), and went above and beyond the call of duty to seal the deal for us.

The Residence Inn, which is predominately targeted toward business travelers, is a good hotel. The location near Dupont Circle is excellent. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Since it is directed more at guests with extended stays, the rooms also include a kitchenette with refrigerator. The hotel also has different themed networking events every night Monday through Thursday, and there are free breakfasts in the mornings.

My friend just bought a one bedroom in Capital Hill Towers, a new development off the Navy Yards metro station. The Towers is part of a building that houses the Courtyard Marriott. This is a great thing because if you live there and don't necessarily want all your family and friends living with you while they visit, they can just go to the hotel!
The Towers has a beautiful, modern lobby and helpful and friendly desk staff. The views are not particularly spectacular, but since this entire area is getting developed over the next few years the views of factories and dilabidated housing will change over to banks and Starbucks. There is a rumor that a Trader Joes is going to come into the first floor retail space, but residents aren't holding their breath. The new National's baseball stadium is being buillt nearby and the new DOT headquarter will soon call this area home. This area is going to be HUGE in the coming years and prospective buyers should really consider this building while it's still affordable.
It's just a block from the Navy Yards metro on the Green Line, and I felt very safe walking there at night, alone. The building has a fantastically appointed fitness room with brand new machines and flat screen tvs. I was impressed with the party room and pool hall that can be reserved for events. The courtyard is beautiful and has a nice fountain that provides good white noise for the apartments. You don't here traffic or typical "city" noise here either.
If you are in the market for a nice apartment in the DC area, don't miss this!

I searched far and wide for a cool cut at a reasonable price! The stylists at Urban Style Lab are mostly from Molecule, another modern haircuttery. They were very nice and skilled with the cutting. I had michelle, who was really down to earth and gave me a great hair cut! It was around $75.

Great Admenties. Sad there is a $500 fee but not security deposit. This fee is not refundable and it goes with a $75 application fee. So they suck the life out of you as move in. After that I love the place. We have had no problems. They installed new carpet and painted before we moved in. The only problem was fixed with in 24 hours.

...and I am very ambivalent about the building. For undergraduates, it is akin to an :off-campus" dormitory, but right in the center of campus. The maintanence repairs are normally in good time, but I have had repetitive problems.
Also, the lack of choices for cable/satellite makes living in the building more expensive than it needs to be.
They are currently changing windows, but ran into a big problem that is keeping my apartment very cold.
But the staff is helpful, and the neighbors are friendly
