The locksmith came by today to fix the buzzer lock on our iron gate. Courtesy call before arrival in our scheduled arrival window. Costs were exactly as discussed on phone. And service with a smile as we worked through a tough puzzle to figure out (I've got a very special gate - its quite sensitive and covered in vines). 10X better than experiences I've had with other locksmiths

The Third Day is a jewel of a store. It is very tempting when you pass by this Dupont Circle institution to peek in the window and think of bringing that beautiful plant home. The displays are always healthy, green and uncluttered. The salespeople are always friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They have great little care cards they give you when you purchase a plant and you can tell they really love what they're doing and care for the plants.

This has been my number one stop for tobacco products since I movied to DC six years ago. They probably have the most knowledgeable staff of any area tobacco dealer. And to my knowledge, they have the largest walk-in humidor of any shop as well. Pretty much they stock everything but the cubans. (And who knows, maybe if you say the secret word??) The prices are very reasonable, so much so that I've been able to afford their wares even on my non-proft salary. Keep in mind this review refers to cigars and pipe tobacco, since I've never purchased cigarettes from them.

DC is the first metro area where I've lived where the neighborhood hardware store is a rarity. Everyone seems to prefer the mega chains like Lowe's and Home Depot. But there is an advantage to a place like Logan Hardware -- you don't have to search forever for what you need, the help actually knows what they're talking about and the prices are better. The owners must just be smart people, because the store isn't one of those family-owned businesses that have been around forever. They actually came in with the wave of gentrification that overtook this neighborhood. But they obviously know their market and its needs. And even though the store looks small from the outside, don't be fooled. It's got three levels full of everything you might need.

Johnsons florist and garden has a wide selection of flowers. My wife loves flowers, since I’m always sending her flowers I try giving her different varieties. This place has it all from the standard roses, to interesting houseplants.
The prices are sometimes a little pricey but I’ve always been satisfied with my purchases.

This floral and garden center has a much larger variety of different flowers and gardent and lawn ornaments than any others I have visited in the past. Their ornamental items are quite lovely, unusual, quality-made, and the prices are very, very reasonable. At many other shops I have seen wilted and old looking flowers, but not here. The plants for sale always look as if they were just picked or just grown and ready to be re-planted. In addition, the staff is always friendly and of much assistance.

I’m not sure that there even is another hardware store in the neighborhood, but I’d be happy to have this one as the only one. Located on 18th Street, between M & N Streets, Candey’s is accessible to residents of Foggy Bottom, Dupont, Georgetown, and other areas. The staff is very friendly and, even though the store is on the small side, they seem to make room for a really good selection. Plus, it helps that it never seems to be too crowded.

The sleek/bright stock ranges from practical (stainless steel kitchen tools, dishes, barware) to the not so practical (the bright-colored silly Koziol line - check out the dental floss 'shark'). They also carry plush (and pricey) bath towels and bath products, making it a good stop for a housewarming gift.
