The bookstore is fairly small but it has a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the store has a decent selection of books. If you ever want to relax with a book this is a great, quiet place to have some quality reading time. The only negative is you will pay a little more than you would in a larger box bookstore.

My unique and well prepared meal was delicious because our waiter Martin Cross, who made certain we were not in the dark about any of our food or ordering.. We Will definitly return, My partner and I had the rib eye and Eastern shore platter. Everything was great especially the drinks.
The new decor is spectacular

An amazing collection of both fountain and ink pens . They sell everything from Mont Blanc to Cross, to unique fountain pens. Recommended for any pen lover.

Everytime I'm in D.C., I visit Meskerem and my companions are always impressed and grateful for the experience. The previous review sums up the food and atmosphere very nicely. Plenty of vegetarian selections. Prices are extremely reasonable and the neighborhood is usually fun.

Sushi-Ko was Washington's first sushi place. It is the "grande dame" of sushi places. It is simple and spare like being in your Japanese "obaasan" (grandmother's) house eating very well put together, fresh fish. For someone eating sushi for the first time, they will get great, impeccably fresh fish.
That said, Sushi-Ko lacks creativity, energy and excitement. It's often a little over-priced. Usually crowded on weekends and at holidays. It's dependable, but I haven't seen anything exciting there in a long time.
Pros: Always dependable
Cons: Never surprisingly great

In the summertime I like the 17th and P street area a lot to hang out, there are so many nice restaurants and cafes to sit outside on the terrace and have either a nice coffee or a good cocktail. One of the must go places is the Skewers - Cafe Luna, great food, AMAZING deserts und of course good drinks. Very neat little place to spend time with a friend or even alone reading a newspaper!

There are a number of small hardware shops in the neighborhood, and this is the biggest. As such, they always get my business, but I'd gladly visit a Home Depot any day. Their chief advantage is location. I will say that the prices are fair though. They somehow manage to fit a lot of goods into a relatively small space and the employees know their stock very well.

Lanes Luggage will appeal to the weary frequent traveler. This small storefront in the business district on Connecticut Avenue sells mostly brand-name luggage and travel accessories. The prices are a bit high but that is because of the high quality of the merchandise. This is a particularly good place to go for small items such as converters to use in Europe, tie racks and luggage tags.
