I thought there would be more stores like this in DC. Since this is the political capital of the country I thought there would be more than one store that specializes in political type books. I found some great books on some of the less talked about Presidents of the US. This is a great store.

I’ve frequented Politics and Prose in DC once. No other bookstores in the area had any books about political polling in stock. I was in a rush and could not wait for an online order. I’m very thankful Politics and Prose was around because they saved my bacon with their surprisingly wide selection of books on this topic. I was able to find what I needed and plan on returning again in the future.

P&P is one of if not THE best independent bookstores in D.C. With two floors of books, there is tons to rummage through in this place. They have all the new releases and fad books that the chain stores that start with B have, but so much more. They have a lot more of the independent writings, as well as some of the smaller literary magazines that you can only find on college campuses. There is an adorable children's section and a coffee shop with tasty treats. There are monthly book clubs for the interested. But best of all for any avid reader, PP is a frequent stop for all kinds of authors on book tours or just in the neighborhood.

I love this bookstore!!! It's quaint with plenty of places to read and I love that it's not a big chain. The staff is very knowledgeable and makes great recommendations about books. The bookstore features authors regularly - I have been to a few readings. The cafe has good drinks and food. There is also a large kids section with lots of books and activities for children. I love PandP because it reminds me of Meg Ryan's bookstore in "You've Got Mail."

Politics and Prose is a great bookstore in DC. It's got a great staff who know a ton about books. The store is located on Connecticut Ave near the intersection of Nebraska and Connecticut. The store has a small cafe downstairs where you can get pastries, coffee, teas, etc. The bookstore often has events where a famous author speaks about his or her new book. I highly recommend visiting this bookstore.

Politics and Prose is one of the few remaining local bookstores. They host book signing- JK Rowling came a few years back- and are great with children and kid's books as well as adults. The coffee is worthwhile. It is great to have local friendliness, coffee, and books in the same place. Come to sit down and enjoy the books and food at the same time. Prices are average. Help is good.

If you're looking for a great bookstore in Washington, DC other than Kramerbooks, be sure to check out Politics and Prose. As the name suggests, they've got a great selection of books that deal with the politics, and they occasionally have interesting guest speakers and book signers that come in. Otherwise it's a great place to spend a rainy afternoon, looking through the shelves of books...

Of all of DC's independent bookstores, this one is the most serious of the bunch, as the name might suggest. It also hosts more events and speakers than the others combined and tends to draw pretty good crowds for most of them. I've been there a few times and each time I go I find something, whether it's a discussion or speech, that I can't get at any other DC bookstore. This one is a true gem for those looking to truly delve into the world of "politics and prose."
