My favorite is Zhen. I have come to this place for my hair care since I moved to the district (a couple of years now). The main reason was great price, and some wonderful stylists (SOME!) The unfortunate about this place is the management doesn't seem to be efficient to keep their good stylists (you can actually feel it there). Those stylists I was happy with kept leaving the salon to elsewhere. For the past 6 months, Zhen has been my one and only pick. She has done a great job to keep my hair in style, and my highlights have never been better. I really hope that she won't move away like other great stylists!

I just had the best experience at VSL. I went to Eve and she was just amazing. I have never in my 30 years of living dealt with a stylist who knows so much about how to take care of hair. She takes time with you, is super friendly and does an amazing job! I LOVE my hair cut. The haircut was super affordable as well! I don't think you will be disappointed if you use Eve at VSL in Dupont!

No matter how many times I say that I want it short BUT NOT A SKULLCAP I still wind up walking out of there with a skullcap. VSL is capable of two styles of short hair on women -- feathered 80s style, and a layered skullcap. That is it. I have been there three times and tried three different stylists -- all the same.

Located in an hip, young, urban section of the city, this salon reflects its surrounding neighborhood with pop/dance/club music coming from its speaker system, lively stylists, and very reasonable prices. For around $20 for guys, you get a salon-quality cut (no more national hair cut chains) and shampoo/head massage. Tired of the same old "short on the side and fade into the top" you've had since grade school? I was and asked my stylist for something new - a request I never would have felt comfortable making at the national hair chain near me. They can get busy at times though, so be sure and call ahead to make sure you're not stuck waiting around.

This beauty salon is great. It is located in Dupont Circle, just near the Starbucks off of the circle. The place is not super cheap, but the haircuts and stylists provide excellent cuts. The place is usually busy, so you will probably need to schedule an appointment. The location is great though because you can take the metro there and check out some stores while you wait. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are wiling to pay a little more for a better cut.
