The margaritas are wonderful too, but come early if you and your friends want to get a seat in the dining room. Tables go quickly each week at taco night.

Despite some of the previous over-pretentious reviews, this place is hands-down one of the best brew pubs you are likely to find. If you appreciate a well-crafted brew and great food, do not miss this gem. I have fined and frank at many fine microbreweries and brewpubs alike...my final consensus is that I wish my local brewpub would hire watch city's brewer and line cooks.

I am a weekly, if not more frequent customer at Tempo. I think of it as my "Cheers" restaurant because it is a place where everyone does know your face, if not your name! Beginning with the receptionists and including the bartenders and waitstaff, the people are friendly and actively trying to make the dining enjoyable. The food is marvelous. I know that the chef/owner shops himself for the food, frequenting the
wholesale fish market every day and the local farmers markets all summer. At Tempo, I particularly love the perfectly fried clams, the succulent butternut squash raviolis and the thin-crusted wild mushroom pizza for appetizers. Each easily serves 2. The salads are spectacular. I go often with a friend who thinks that the week is not complete without a Tempo pear, pistachio and gorgonzola salad. The entrees are delicious and always large enough to pack a lunch from the leftovers. Our favorites are the chicken and artichokes, the Brandt steak (which is almost double the price if you order it in Boston restaurants), and almost any of the creative and totally fresh fish offerings. The veggies that come with the entrees are varied and always compliment the main course. (I also savor the macaroni and cheese and the au grautin potatoes). Desserts are lovely, and like the entrees beautifully presented. I'm almost salivating writing this review! To me the food is of high quality and excellent value. Generally, when we go to a different restauant at the urging of friends, we are slightly disappointed and think that we would have had a more delicious meal in a place with great energy if we had gone to our favorite place, Tempo!
Pros: Fun and friendly venue
Cons: Can be a bit loud but I heard they are currently addressing this

I was taken to Il Capriccio last month for a business dinner. Two of us arrived a bit early and sat at the bar for a drink. I was very impressed by the variety of aperitifs and the bartenders knowledge of them. I actually do not recall the name of the drink I had (the bartender picked it), but he did well suiting my taste. The four of us were seated in a nice corner by a shaded window. We all had different taste in wine, so we asked for help. The owner picked a bottle that we all enjoyed (we had two). She was interested in understanding what we wanted without making us feel dumb about our lack of knowledge. The service was very good. We were talking business, so he really did not say too much to us, but was always there when needed something. Every bite of the food was delicious. We had some sort of mushroom flan-type thing that was amazing.
I think what was striking to me about this place, striking enough to write a review, was that everything happened as it should. The service was appropriate and attentive; the food was delicious; the wine matched our taste and the food; the bartender knew alcohol; the hostness sat us when we were ready and a specific table was waiting for us; no dirty dishes were left hanging around on the table; and again, the food was terrific. We needed to have a relaxed place to build business relationships while still eating and drinking well. This place fit the bill just right. My wife and I are headed out that way again next month. I have a feeling that it will be a great place for a romantic dinner as well.
Thanks, Il Capriccio . . .you did good.
Pros: Everything fit
Cons: Couldn't find the place if I did not have a guide

I'm glad I came here the other night. I was expecting to hang out with a couple of golf guys after our round and have a few beers and pub food. We were surprised to find not only great pub food, but a rather extensive menu as well. The tropical chicken skewers and Sausage Pizza got us started on the right track and were great. I loved my Shepherd's Pie and one friend loved his Cape Codder sandwich while the other said his Chicken Curry was exceptional. We were told that the owner was from Ireland and by the way the bartender poured our Guinness we could tell. Check it out, you'll be glad you did.
Pros: Fun atmosphere

I loved this place! Great laid back atmosphere and loved the menu even more! There was a good band that played later that night (don't remember the name though). I highly recommend the nachos and chicken tender platter, the chicken tender platter was probably the best I've had in the Boston area! Also, the prices were phenomenal; fairly cheap for such great food! Highly recommended and I will definitely be back!
Pros: FOOD WAS GREAT, Prices, laid back atmosphere

The Skellig is a fun place to hit up on a Friday night to dance in the backroom to local cover bands. It can get a bit crowded some nights and I'd recommend getting in early to avoid the cover. If dancing and cover bands aren't your thing, you can hang out at the front bar. There is usually live session music happening but it's not too loud to have a conversation, which is always a plus!

A perfect place when looking for a bar where you can just relax with friends and enjoy a good drink. A classy retreat from your average meat market. Decor wise, antique pictures from historic Waltham hang on red walls. The dark wood bar has seats for 12, and has a classic brass railing. Above the bar there is a pair of high def flat screens showing the games of the night.
The knowlegable staff are fast and attentive, serving up your beverage of choice. The specialty drink list ranges from new adeptations on classics like The Lincoln (home infused raspberry vodka martini) to a Charles River (as the menu says: "You don't want to know"), which complements a good selection of beer, wine, and liquor. Food is your standard fare like burgers and hot dogs, but the staff doesn't mind if you bring in something from somewhere else.
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Can get crowded later in the night
