I really think this is a good zoo for a city like Waco. Nice layout, clean and safe habitat's for the animals, and they have just opened a great central TX themed exhibit. It's rarely packed, so you can have the animals to yourself! Another great way to spend an afternoon either with or without children.

For parents looking for fun, educational activities for the kids (or for them) to enjoy...go to the Mayborn museum. I went there last semester as part of one of my extended learning activities and i really loved it. there were many exhibits and stuff for the kids (which is the part i really loved). We went upstairs and they had physics/practical learning tools. There are lots of tours given on any particular day so i would recommend going earlier so you can avoid the rush. In all, its a great place, and is very cheap (free for students) so go get some knowledge!

Baylor University is a great free place to take a child to play. I have yet to explore the whole campus, but here are a few fun places to take children there.
THE BEAR PIT
Baylor's two live mascots (two female black bears) are kept in the Baylor Bear Pit, which is open to the public. The times I've been to see them they were sleeping--but still, you can't find a better free zoo exhibit. There is also a pretty river going by the pit.
THE FOUNTAINS by the SCIENCE BUILDING
There are two wonderful fountains connected by a man-made stream located between the Student Life Center and the Science building. When I first took my two year old to explore the campus, we stopped here and never got to the rest of it because he had so much fun splashing throwing stones in the little river.
While you're there, if you want to get out of the sun for a little while, take a trip through the first floor of the science building. The floors are made with stones that have real fossils in them, and at one end there is a cross-section of a giant tree dating past the time of Christ.
THE FOUNTAIN MALL
Ironically, there is no fountain located here, but it is a nice open space with some pretty landscaping where kids can run around.
There is lots of other places for kids to run around and explore (with adult supervision, of course). Just do be careful to park in visitor, not staff or student parking.

More
If you are a poetry or literature buff, or just a fan of the Victorian era, you will love this ambling through this museum/library. This library contains artifacts related to the Victorian poets Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning (Not sure who they are? You've surely heard quoted "How do I love thee--let me count the ways"--It's the first line of a poem written by Elizabeth Barret Browning. And any child knows of "The Pied Piper," penned by Robert Browning--though he was not primarily a children's writer.)
You can see paintings of the brownings, furniture from their home (including Robert Browning's Writing Desk), artwork which inspired some of their work, and other works of art inspired by their work, correspondence, relics from their home, and other items.
The architecture in the library is beautiful. One room with a high exquisitely carved ceiling, murals, and towering stained glass windows is especially breathtaking.
They suggest a $2 donation, but admission is free.

I have been here several times throughout my years here in Texas. The Museum is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places and is a nonprofit organization. It has three floors of exhibits. The building that it is in was the actual headquarters until 1924. They have the Beverage World Soft Drink Hall of Fame and the Free Enterprise Institute. The best thing about it is it has an actual operating old fashioned soda fountain. This is a wonderful place to go to learn about how Dr Pepper was made and just to see the different items that Dr. Pepper use to be to what Dr Pepper is now. I love this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I have taken our kids here several times. The kids also go here on field trips with their school. We all love it here. They have alot of different artifacts there from the old times of the Rangers. They have an exceptional collection of guns, Indian artifacts and alot of antiques. This place is really clean and it is definately the place that you will want to go to show your kids or just to take your spouse to see the old times and learn a little about how our Rangers use to be.

This is a very fun park. It has 10 acres of nothing but fun for all. We go there about 2 or 3 times a month and just love it. We play putt putt golf, we ride the train which is just the coolest thing. It goes all around the park and is just a lovely scenic ride. They have a superslide for the kids, they have go cart track and the famous bumper boats. We love to get in the bumper boats and just have fun. I would definitely recommend this place as it is packed with family fun.

This is a great place. My husband and I both take our cars here. The people are really nice and the business is exceptional on price and service. They have done my A/C service as well as a tune up and front wheel alignments. They have always been so nice and polite when I go there. The cost is very affordable and I would definately go here again.

We rented a limo from Dynasty Limousines for our daughter for her graduation from Jr. High to High School. The people were very nice when we called them on the phone to get their rates and when we went down to their office to pay them, they were even nicer. They were very affordable. The driver was really nice to my daughter and the other girls that were in the limo with her. I will definitly hire them again for her High School Graduation.

I have went here several times to get my nails done. They have always done a wonderful job. I get the gel nails as they seem to last longer. I have never had a set of nails stay on as long as they have from Nail 2000. They are wonderful people with very affordable prices. I have also gotten pedicures here as well and they do a very nice job. Would definitely go back here again.
