Woodstock Park is off of Providence Road is a small community park. It has a few covered pic nic areas and a field to play in and a fairly nice playground area. We had a great time though when I took the children from the business that I worked at. The children really seemed to enjoy playing there, but then again there was plenty of shade and they didn't seem to be playing as much in the sun. There are a few things for younger children, but not as much as some of the other parks.

We spent a delightful 45 minutes snooping through all the offerings at Wild Birds Unlimited. They sell bird seed and houses. They carry some birding guides and binoculars from Eagle Optical. They have feeding station kits that you piece together. Plus all the usual standard toys and jewelry -- stuffed birds that sing their real song, and hummingbird earrings. A puzzle was our selected purchase. The staff answered many of our questions and packed us up to go quickly.

Being a Tennis specialty store you would expect to get many tennis items you would not find at Sports Authority or Dick's, and they do not disappoint in that regard. They have many items that will help aid the game of a beginner to as they put it "touring professionals". This place has very fast stringing service too (the service I have used mainly). They usually strung my racquet on the spot, rather than dropping your racquet off at Sports Authority and Dick's. So if you want your racquets done right away go here!

The Virginia Beach Rock N' Roll Half Marathon is one of the best in the business. Okay, I've only run this one (twice), the Indianapolis Mini, and the full Marine Corps Marathon, but it was a great time both times. The bands are frequent and keep you moving. The water stops are pretty well placed, but the powergel could come a little sooner in the race. The final run along the boardwalk is just long enough for you to soak it in but not so long you start to hate yourself.
The only downside is that Virginia Beach the city seems to be in a downward spiral. The ticky-tacky shops have really taken over and you can't see the beach from the road because of all the high-rise hotels the city has allowed.

Princess Anne Park is on the corner of Dam Neck Blvd and Princess Anne Blvd. It is close to the Farmers Market. This is a very big park which is very close to the Amphitheater and the soccer fields.
There are lighted areas also. The playground is very nice and there is plenty of pic nic areas with shade as it has a lot of trees. If you check the parks and recs schedule, there are often children's activities going on here and there are also a lot of sports tournaments at the fields.
Again, I love taking my son to different parks and this is another one that we like to do. We will then typically go to the farmer's market across the road and get ice cream. A fun day.

Once was a landfill, now a great park. Driving on 264 towards the beach you can see this park on a huge hill with many people flying kites and having picnics. They is also a huge lake that is good for taking your pet for a walk and a great runnign track fo those who like to work out. Behind this park is a huge skateboard park set up with ramps and all.

I wasn't highly impressed with Motor World. Granted they did have a few things for the kids to do, go cart racing, and even bungee type jumping, I did find this park to be overpriced. I just felt for the amount of time they actually were on the rides, that the prices should be a little cheaper. I do think this is a tourist trap and not really geared a lot for the locals.
But for those who have the money (lol) it does have numerous go cart tracks, a neat bumper boat ride, and a mini golf course.
