Fun Place 8/3/2014

I had a wonderful time visiting this store today. My kids had a blast being able to pet the puppies, rabbits and hamsters in the front. Employees were friendly and gave us coupons when we walked in. The girl at the puppies (I believe her name was Julia) was very sweet and patient with my kids . She took out a dog for them to see and taught them a lot about caring for one and the responsibility it requires. I ended up buying some supplies and plan on stopping in again soon to look into buying a rabbit for my family. more

Nice experience 1/23/2014

Employees were very nice! Had some questions about products and a nice, young, smiley girl helped me find exactly what I needed and explained things very well. I'm glad to know there are people that know what they are talking about. Animals were cute and friendly. Some shelves looked a little bare but overall a good selection. I will visit again soon for my pets needs! more

The poor puppies 7/5/2011

I feel so horrible for the puppies. They haven't done anything and they don't deserve what they have already been through. The signs say that they are hand picked for NYS breeders but they aren't. The one puppy we were interested in was from Wynadotte, OK. The lady said that the breeders, the Kerrs, initially lived in NY but moved to Oklahoma so the puppies get delivered once a month by truck. I did some research on the Kerrs and here is what I found. There is no record of Margaret and her husband Berkley living in NY. From 1989 to at least 2001, they were living in Kansas. They still come up listed as having a place in Kansas as well as one in Oklahoma. A court case where Margaret Kerr was suing because she didn't want to have to follow state regulations. http://www.animallaw.info/cases/causfd740fsupp1525.htm In 2001, the American Kennel Club suspended the Kerrs for not permitting an inspection of records and practices. http://www.akc.org/about/board_minutes/2001/1001.cfm How can you properly care for almost 300 dogs? http://www.petshoppuppies.com/report.asp?ID=48A1758 I urge you to do more research on puppy mills. Some puppy mill owners sell the puppies to a broker for as little at $60 and then you are asked to pay $700-$1000. You can find a champion bred puppy from a AKC licensed breeder for $1000. The puppies are adorable but some of them could be very sick. Please stop buying from Pet Depot, you are only helping them hurt more puppies. more

Cant please everyone I guess. 5/1/2008

Funny because I just bought a Beichon friese there and he was only $649.99 and I got a $75.00 discount off of that price. I didn't see one dog in there that was $1,000 like another poster stated. It is a pet shop with all the over head you have to expect to pay extra. Try getting all the warranties that a pet shop gives you through a local breeder sorry it just isn't happening. It makes you wonder if the people complaining are breeders themselves trying to discredit a good business. more

Pet Depot 3/21/2008

I have had many animals from that store, their teddy bear hamsters are extremely friendly. Yet, there is a down side to their store from being an experienced pet owner of many different species I know. Their puppies could be mentally damaged from being in a kennel for long periods of time. They get puppies for $250, and then charge $1000 for them or even higher! They rip off many people with their cute puppies and their prices for items and pets are outrageous. Dogs from the newspaper from experienced breeders are less expensive, and trusted. They don't always take care of their pets, their baby geniun pigs did not have a house to hide under (very frightened), their tortise had crickets in his cage as food,(they do not eat those), colored sand(bad for them) plus a too high food dish. I often hear of the bragging of how much they sold their puppies for. The staff makes me as a buyer feel pushed to buy some of the animals I am interested in. more

Big Pet Store 10/27/2005

Pet Depot is located in Town Square Mall (the Walmart shopping center). It is a fairly large pet store that always has large amounts of small animals. You will always find a constant supply of hamsters, rabbits, ferrets, etc. They also have a good amount of birds and a nice selection of fish. If you are looking for dogs, they do have some but I might check elsewhere. For anything small pet related I would say Pet Depot is an excellent place to visit. Some of the workers are very knowledgeable, while others aren't, so if one worker doesn't help, ask someone else. more
